Job Description

Job Overview We are seeking a skilled Safety Specialist to help strengthen and advance our organization's safety culture. This field-based role is responsible for conducting comprehensive safety audits, promoting and enforcing safety standards, and ensuring full compliance with all Federal, State, and local regulations. Responsibilities Conduct routine field safety audits, jobsite inspections, and compliance reviews to identify hazards and ensure adherence to all regulatory and company safety standards. Ensure employees perform tasks safely, efficiently, and accurately, providing coaching and training as needed. Stop any operations or activities that present a risk to workers or equipment. Lead the weekly Project Safety Meetings. Conduct safety orientation and training for all new employees. Prepare clear, accurate safety reports, audit documentation, and incident records. Assist with the workers' compensation process by ensuring proper documentation and reporting. Review incident reports, lead investigations, prepare Post-Accident Investigation Reports (Root Cause Analyses), and provide recommendations to management. Stay current on industry regulations related to EHS standards and occupational health practices. Ensure job sites are adequately stocked with all required safety supplies (e.g., first-aid kits, eyewash stations). Perform other duties and assignments as directed by the Safety Director. Requirements Proven experience in the construction safety industry or a comparable field-based safety role. Comprehensive knowledge of OSHA regulations and standards.
Preferred certifications:
OSHA 30, FDOT
MOT, Basic First Aid/CPR, SWPPP, or equivalent safety credentials. Demonstrated expertise in incident investigation, report preparation, and root-cause analysis. Strong training and presentation skills, with the ability to educate and engage employees at all levels. Familiarity with EHS programs, risk assessments, and continuous improvement initiatives. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and foster a positive safety culture. Strong analytical skills, including the ability to interpret safety data and provide actionable risk-mitigation recommendations.
Pay:
$75,000.00 - $95,000.00 per year
