Job Description:
Facilitates and maintains communication with various ancillary areas within the Wound Healing Institute. Provides documented education for hyperbaric and wound care staff on hyperbaric physiology, decompression equipment functions, and patient safety. Conducts hyperbaric chamber system orientation and serves as a preceptor for staff and physicians, ensuring hyperbaric safety and chamber competencies. Coordinates and supervises safety drills and exercises. Maintains oversight of all hyperbaric oxygen (HBO) logs. Assists with patient care duties as needed and maintains required competencies. Attends and participates in staff meetings and required in-services, providing HBO in-services as appropriate. Maintains and orders hyperbaric supplies as needed. Participates in professional organizations such as the Associates of the Undersea and Hyperbaric Medical Society (UHMS). Maintains the autonomy to restrict or modify materials that enter the hyperbaric chamber. Collaborates with the Program Director to ensure compliance with safety and operational standards. Performs other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Strong communication skills both verbal and written, with the ability to effectively communicate with adult and geriatric age groups. [Required]
  • Proficient in knowledge of outpatient hospital services and outpatient provider services. [Required]
  • Demonstrated ability to work closely with physicians, fostering collaborative relationships. [Required]
  • Proficiency in all established hyperbaric guidelines, equipment, safety codes, including NFPA99, gas handling, PVHOI, 2 CGA, and other safety-related guidelines. [Preferred]
  • Ability to demonstrate knowledge, training, and experience in hyperbaric chamber operations and minor repair. [Preferred]
  • Possesses leadership and team-building skills with the capability to work independently and within a team environment. [Required]
  • Flexibility to adapt to changing patient flow schedules. [Required]
  • Knowledgeable in the use of EMR systems and documentation requirements. [Required]
  • Understanding and adherence to patient confidentiality standards and requirements. [Required]
  • EMT (Basic equivalent or greater in Medical Training).

Education:
  • High School Grad or Equiv [Required]
Field of Study:
  • High School Grad or Equiv Required
  • Completion of a 40 hour Underwater and Hyperbaric Medicine Society (UHMS) or National Board of Diving and Hyperbaric Medicine Technology (NBDHMT) approved Hyperbaric Medicine Introductory Course. Required
  • Completion of an Underwater and Hyperbaric Medicine Society (UHMS) or National Board of Diving and Hyperbaric Medicine Technology (NBDHMT) approved
Hyperbaric Director Safety Course Required Work Experience:
  • 1+ year clinical hyperbaric experience and completion of a uhms approved hyperbaric course [Required]
