Job Description

Safety Director KC Painting & Coatings | Kilcor Construction | KC Industrial KC Painting & Coatings, Kilcor Construction, and KC Industrial are seeking an experienced Safety Director to lead and oversee safety strategy and safety operations across multiple construction and industrial business units. This is a highly visible leadership role supporting active commercial construction projects, industrial operations, fabrication environments, fleet safety programs, and field teams across multiple regions. The Safety Director will partner closely with executive leadership, operations teams, project managers, superintendents, and field personnel to strengthen accountability, reduce organizational risk exposure, improve safety performance, and support operational excellence across all three companies. This role also plays a key role in supporting company-wide operational risk management initiatives including fleet safety, driver accountability, telematics monitoring, and post-incident response coordination. We are seeking a highly credible construction safety professional with strong operational leadership experience, executive-level communication skills, and a hands-on approach to safety leadership. This role requires a visible field presence and active engagement with operations teams and jobsites. This is not a remote or primarily administrative safety role. Position Responsibilities Safety Leadership & Operations Lead and continuously improve company-wide safety programs across multiple operating companies and divisions Foster a proactive, accountability-driven culture of safety throughout the organization Develop and implement scalable safety policies, procedures, training programs, and operational standards Partner with executive leadership and operations teams to integrate safety into project execution, workforce development, and operational planning Analyze safety performance trends, leading indicators, and operational data to drive continuous improvement and proactive risk reduction initiatives Develop measurable safety goals, KPIs, and executive reporting metrics Field Safety & Operational Support Maintain a strong and consistent field presence through regular jobsite visits, audits, inspections, and operational engagement Support field leadership, project teams, and superintendents in safe project planning and execution Identify hazardous conditions, unsafe behaviors, and operational risks while ensuring timely corrective action and follow-up Support mobilization planning, high-risk activities, and compliance with owner/general contractor safety requirements Assist operational leadership with practical risk mitigation strategies tied to field production activities and project execution Training, Compliance & Incident Management Lead company-wide safety training initiatives including OSHA programs, toolbox talks, leadership development, and continuing education Serve as the internal subject matter expert on OSHA regulations, construction safety standards, and industry best practices Oversee incident investigations, corrective action planning, regulatory reporting, and workers' compensation coordination Monitor safety, claims, and fleet trends to identify recurring risk patterns and develop targeted prevention initiatives Support OSHA inspections, investigations, citations, and regulatory correspondence as needed Fleet & Operational Risk Management Oversee company-wide fleet safety initiatives including telematics monitoring, driver accountability, post-accident response procedures, motor vehicle risk mitigation, and operational driving safety programs Monitor fleet and driving trends to identify high-risk behaviors and partner with operational leadership on corrective action and accountability measures Support operational risk management initiatives related to company vehicles, equipment operations, subcontractor exposure, and high-risk construction activities Collaborate with operational and administrative teams to strengthen overall fleet safety compliance and risk management practices Required Qualifications Minimum 10 years of progressive safety leadership experience within commercial construction, industrial, or specialty contracting environments Minimum 5 years supporting active commercial construction or industrial field operations Proven experience supporting multiple projects, regions, business units, or operating companies simultaneously
OSHA 500
Certification (Authorized OSHA Outreach Trainer - Construction) required Current CHST or STS-C certification required Current First Aid/CPR/AED certification required Strong working knowledge of OSHA construction standards, commercial jobsite compliance requirements, incident investigations, corrective action planning, and safety documentation Experience partnering directly with operations leadership, project managers, superintendents, and field supervision teams Experience supporting operational risk management, fleet safety initiatives, or driver accountability programs within construction or industrial environments Strong leadership, communication, conflict resolution, and relationship-building skills Strong organizational, analytical, and documentation capabilities Proficiency with Microsoft Office and safety management/reporting software platforms Valid driver's license with acceptable driving record Ability and willingness to travel regularly between offices, operating regions, and active construction jobsites Preferred Qualifications CSP (Certified Safety Professional) certification ASP (Associate Safety Professional) certification Bachelor's degree in Occupational Safety, Construction Management, Industrial Safety, or related field Experience supporting commercial painting/coatings, industrial services, fabrication, manufacturing, specialty subcontracting, or high-risk construction operations Strong experience supporting fleet safety, telematics monitoring, vehicle incident investigations, and operational driving risk management programs Experience implementing scalable safety technology or learning management systems Bilingual English/Spanish communication skills Experience supporting rapidly growing or multi-entity organizations What We're Looking For The ideal candidate is: Operationally engaged and field-focused Comfortable holding teams accountable while building strong working relationships Able to effectively communicate with both field personnel and executive leadership Highly organized, proactive, and solutions-oriented Comfortable operating in fast-paced construction and industrial environments Capable of balancing compliance, operational partnership, and practical problem-solving Work Environment This role operates in both office and active construction environments with regular travel between jobsites and operating regions. Candidates must be comfortable walking jobsites, navigating uneven terrain, climbing stairs and ladders, wearing required PPE, and working in varying outdoor conditions while performing field inspections and operational safety observations.
