Job Description

Job Title Process Improvement Engineer (Operational Excellence) Position Overview At Shaw Industries, we're redefining what operational excellence looks like in a design-driven manufacturing environment. Our Custom Design Studio (Plant 94) is seeking a Process Improvement Engineer to help build and scale a high-impact continuous improvement system that supports training, safety, quality, and innovation across the entire operation. This is a highly cross-functional role- ideal for someone who enjoys connecting systems, people, and processes to drive meaningful change.
Responsibilities :
Drive Operational Excellence Build and lead a plant-wide continuous improvement (CI) pipeline aligned to business priorities Lead a steady stream of process improvements and personally lead to the highest impact initiatives by using structured problem solving, observations, time studies, and data analysis. Establish and manage the operational excellence cadence (intake, prioritization, execution, sustainment) Ensure improvements "stick" through standard work, training, and system integration Own Safety & Compliance Systems Own and maintain the plant's safety and compliance programs Drive proactive safety initiatives including audits, walkthroughs, and root cause investigations Translate safety insights into process improvements and risk reduction strategies Ensure ongoing regulatory compliance and audit readiness Enable Training & High-Performance Teams Design and continuously improve a plant-wide training system Partner with functional leaders (manufacturing, design, estimating) to identify skill gaps and training needs Ensure alignment between process changes and training execution Support a High-Performance Team (HPT) environment through role clarity and cross-training Connect Systems, Data & Decisions Serve as a data champion by developing dashboards and reporting tools to improve visibility and execution Support cost analysis, savings tracking, and budget optimization efforts Partner across teams to improve system connectivity and workflow efficiency
Requirements:
Bachelor's degree (Industrial Engineering, Operations, Safety, or related field preferred) Experience leading process improvement or continuous improvement initiatives in a manufacturing or operational environment Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel and data analysis tools
Preferred:
Experience with safety, compliance, training systems, or operational programs Familiarity with Lean, Six Sigma, or continuous improvement methodologies Strong analytical and problem-solving skills Ability to influence cross-functional teams without direct authority
