Job Description

JOB SUMMARY
We are looking for a Safety Supervisor to drive our 'Safety First' culture, empowering field teams to prioritize their well-being so everyone gets home safely, every day. This role oversees a team of Safety Coordinators and ensures all Farm Labor Contractor (FLC)-specific regulations, including HIOSH, OSHA, and the Worker Protection Standard (WPS), are strictly enforced. This position serves as the front line of safety leadership and requires technical expertise, strong people management skills, and the authority to halt unsafe work.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Team Leadership:
Supervise and mentor Safety Coordinators. Coordinate daily site schedules and review field reports for accuracy and completeness.
Regulatory Oversight:
Supervise field restroom and sanitation audits. Verify that Coordinators are confirming unit functionality, mandated health postings, and supply levels.
Safety Inspections:
Conduct high-level site inspections to identify hazards and monitor Coordinators' schedules to ensure full site coverage.
FLC Compliance:
Ensure all crews have adequate access to shade, drinking water, and first-aid services at every remote jobsite.
Operations Partnership:
Collaborate with the Operations team to integrate safety standards into field workflows without assuming production tasks.
Root-Cause Investigation:
Lead investigations for accidents and "near-misses." Collect witness statements and prepare corrective action plans for the Safety Director.
Stop-Work Authority:
Maintain full authority to immediately halt work when life-threatening hazards or serious violations are observed.
Performance Reporting:
Compile field data into weekly summary logs tracking compliance trends and training completion. Other duties as assigned or required.
SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS
Bilingual (English/Spanish): Required. Must speak, read, and write fluently in both languages.
Regulatory Knowledge:
Comprehensive understanding of
HIOSH/OSHA
agricultural standards (FLC requirements, Field Sanitation, WPS).
Leadership Experience:
Minimum of one year in a supervisory role managing field-based staff across multiple locations.
Active Hazard Assessment:
Proven ability to conduct physical risk assessments in ever-changing, rugged outdoor environments.
Software Proficiency:
Familiarity with mobile safety auditing tools (e.g., iAuditor, SiteDocs) and Microsoft Office.
Schedule:
Ability to work a 6 to 7-day workweek during peak seasonal operations.
Communication Skills:
Ability to provide clear direction to Safety Coordinators and collaborate effectively with operations management.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
Experience:
3+ years of direct safety experience (Ag preferred) and 1+ year in a supervisory role.
Education:
High School Diploma required; Degree in Safety/Ag preferred.
Certifications:
Board of Certified Safety Professionals (BCSP), OSHA Training Institute (OTI), OSHA Outreach, American Society of Safety Professionals (ASSP), or National Safety Council (NSC) preferred.
Compliance:
Valid driver's license and clean DMV record required
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Travel & Driving:
Constant operation of a motor vehicle to reach remote sites.
Field Mobility:
Frequent movement across rough, uneven, or muddy terrain, including active agricultural fields.
Lifting:
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. occasionally.
Positioning:
Frequent bending, stooping, kneeling, crouching, or climbing to perform inspections.
Environmental Exposure:
Constant exposure to outdoor conditions, including extreme heat, direct sun, wind, rain, and dust.
PPE:
Must be able to wear and work in required personal protective equipment, including respirators.
Communication:
Frequent communication in loud or outdoor environments.
Pay:
$85,000.00 - $115,000.00 per year
