Job Description

Help Lead the Launch of Story Medical's New Public Safety Department! We are seeking an experienced and service-focused Public Safety Officer Supervisor to help establish and lead our newly created Public Safety Department. This is an exciting opportunity for a motivated public safety professional to play a foundational leadership role within a growing healthcare organization. The Supervisor will work closely with the Director of Facilities and Public Safety to build a strong culture of safety, professionalism, teamwork, and patient-centered service while supporting 24/7/365 hospital operations. Located in Nevada, Iowa, we deliver top-quality healthcare across multiple specialties in a community-focused setting. Be part of our dynamic team and make a meaningful impact in healthcare! As a Public Safety Officer Supervisor, you will: Supervise, coach, and evaluate Public Safety Officers to ensure effective performance and adherence to organizational standards. Coordinate staffing schedules to maintain 24/7/365 security coverage. Promote accountability, professionalism, and alignment with

Values. Maintain a visible and professional security presence throughout hospital and clinic environments. Respond to and coordinate response to emergencies including aggressive behavior, threats, disturbances, and medical situations. Perform Public Safety Officer duties as needed to support operations. Assist in organization-wide safety training initiatives Maintain strict confidentiality of patient, resident, and personnel information.

Required Education, Experience, and Skills:
High school diploma or equivalent required Valid driver's license required Certification in de-escalation and crisis intervention (or ability to obtain) Certification to carry and use approved less-lethal equipment (e.g., Taser) (or ability to obtain) Basic Life Support (BLS) certification preferred or required within 30 days of hire Minimum of three (3) years of experience in law enforcement, security, military, or related public safety field Demonstrated leadership or supervisory experience Strong leadership, coaching, and team development skills Advanced conflict resolution and de-escalation abilities Ability to remain calm and make sound decisions in high-pressure situations Strong communication and interpersonal skills High level of professionalism, integrity, and accountability Individuals cannot be on the Office of Inspector General (OIG) Excluded Provider List Must have legal authorization to work in the
United States Preferred Education, Experience, and Skills:
Associate's or bachelor's degree in criminal justice, public safety, or related field Experience in healthcare or behavioral health security environment Knowledge of healthcare safety standards and patient-centered care principles
