This role ensures full compliance with FMCSA, OSHA, and DOT regulations while providing support, training, and coaching to drivers operating in rail yards, ports, and container terminals. Role:
United Road Freight Inc. is seeking an experienced DOT Safety Manager to oversee safety compliance within our container trucking fleet . This role ensures full compliance with FMCSA, OSHA, and DOT regulations while providing support, training, and coaching to drivers operating in rail yards, ports, and container terminals. Key Responsibilities Regulatory Compliance Ensure compliance with FMCSA, DOT, and OSHA regulations Monitor Hours of Service, ELD compliance, and vehicle safety standards Maintain up-to-date knowledge of changing regulations Safety Program Development Develop and enforce company safety policies Lead safety meetings and ongoing driver training Implement preventive safety strategies to reduce incidents Driver Support & Training Conduct driver onboarding and safety orientation Provide ride-along coaching and on-site yard observations Support drivers with regulatory questions and compliance concerns Incident Investigation Investigate accidents, near-misses, and unsafe events Document findings and recommend corrective actions Coordinate follow-up with operations and insurance providers Recordkeeping & Documentation Maintain accurate driver qualification files Ensure compliance with DOT Drug & Alcohol Testing Program Manage safety logs, audit documentation, and compliance records Qualifications Strong knowledge of
FMCSA & DOT
regulations required Experience in container trucking / port / rail yard operations preferred Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook Strong communication, coaching, and documentation skills Experience working with insurance providers or claims (preferred) Schedule Monday through Friday On-site in Bensenville, IL About United Road Freight Inc.
