You will develop, implement, and oversee safety programs that ensure compliance with FMCSA and DOT regulations and company policy -- protecting our drivers, fleet, and cargo while keeping operations running efficiently. This is a hands-on role for someone who thrives in a fast-moving trucking environment and understands the unique demands of over-the-road and regional operations. Responsibilities Develop, implement, and continuously improve safety policies specific to trucking, freight handling, and driver operations Conduct regular safety audits and risk assessments across all routes, terminals, and fleet activities Ensure compliance with FMCSA and DOT regulations, including hours of service, ELD mandates, and vehicle inspection requirements Oversee fleet safety protocols including driver qualification files, MVR reviews, preventive maintenance standards, and roadside inspection readiness Lead accident and incident investigations -- document findings, identify root causes, and implement corrective actions Manage the DOT drug and alcohol testing program per 49 CFR Part 382 Deliver driver safety training on regulatory updates, defensive driving, cargo securement, and emergency procedures Monitor CSA scores and BASIC data; coordinate DataQ challenges when appropriate Collaborate with dispatch and operations teams to identify and address safety gaps in day-to-day workflow Required Experience & Qualifications 2+ years of safety management experience in a trucking, freight, or fleet environment Working knowledge of FMCSA and DOT regulations (49 CFR Parts 382, 383, 390-396) Familiarity with ELD systems and Hours of Service compliance Experience conducting incident investigations and producing written reports Strong communication skills -- able to train drivers and coordinate across departments Valid driver's license with clean MVR Preferred Qualifications Experience with a Transportation Management System (TMS) Bilingual English/Russian or English/Ukrainian a plus We are an Equal Opportunity Employer committed to a safe and drug-free workplace.
