Ruder Electric of The State Group is seeking a Safety Coordinator based in Kankakee, IL . This position reports directly to the Senior Regional Safety Manager and is a trusted advisor and field resource, supporting large-scale construction projects through proactive safety leadership, regulatory compliance, employee engagement, and continuous improvement initiatives that help keep our people safe every day. Serve as a key safety contact for customers, contractors, and regulatory agencies on job sites. Conduct and document inspections and incident investigations in a timely and accurate manner. Perform safety audits of work practices, housekeeping, equipment, and materials. Track audit findings, inspections, and corrective actions to ensure timely closure. Ensure compliance with company policies and applicable OSHA, EPA, COR, ISO, and other regulatory requirements. Report safety concerns, risks, and non-compliance issues to Safety Management and Operations leadership. Take immediate action to correct unsafe conditions or behaviors, including coaching personnel and isolating equipment when required. Promote a strong safety culture through accountability, communication, and continuous improvement. WHAT YOU NEED TO JOIN OUR TEAM
Bachelors degree in safety or a related field or equivalent experience and certifications. At least 5 years of safety experience in the construction industry. Intermediate knowledge with Excel, safety recordkeeping, safety software, and training databases. Strong interpersonal communication and relational skills. CSP or CHST certification preferred.
