Job Description

Safety Technician - Heavy Civil / Federal (USACE) Job Summary We're looking for a Safety Technician to support day-to-day safety operations on a USACE project. This role helps enforce the site Accident Prevention Plan (APP) and ensures work is performed in line with EM 385-1-1, OSHA, and contract requirements. You'll be out in the field working with crews and supervision to spot issues early, keep work moving safely, and make sure expectations are being followed. You'll support inspections, help build and maintain AHAs, assist with toolbox talks, and make sure controls are in place before work starts. This role also helps with incident reporting, tracking corrective actions, and keeping safety documentation organized and current. The right person understands how construction work actually happens and can communicate clearly with crews. You're not just checking boxes—you're paying attention to conditions, speaking up when something's off, and helping keep the job running safely and efficiently. Pay will be based on experience. What You'll Be Doing Support daily safety oversight for heavy civil construction activities Conduct site inspections and document findings Assist with development and review of Activity Hazard Analyses (AHAs) Verify safety controls are in place prior to and during work Lead or assist with toolbox talks and safety briefings Monitor compliance with EM 385-1-1, OSHA, and site-specific requirements Support incident reporting and follow-up on corrective actions Maintain safety logs, reports, and documentation What We're Looking For 2-5 years of construction safety experience Experience on USACE or federal projects preferred Working knowledge of EM 385-1-1 and OSHA standards Comfortable working in active heavy civil jobsite environments Strong communication and field presence Detail-oriented and able to stay organized in a fast-paced setting
Pay:
$20.00 - $25.00 per hour
