Boston, MA Job Details Full-time | Contract $75,000 - $100,000 a year 6 hours ago Qualifications Teamwork Healthcare Administration Master's degree Bachelor's degree Staff training Full Job Description The EOC / Patient Safety Officer designs and oversees the organization's safety management plans to safeguard patients, staff, and visitors. The role coordinates regulatory compliance for physical infrastructure while leading proactive clinical risk assessments to foster a culture of safety and continuous improvement.
Core ResponsibilitiesRegulatory Compliance:
Maintains constant readiness for surveys from The Joint Commission (TJC), CMS, OSHA, and local authorities.
Committee Leadership:
Serves as the primary leader or co-chair of the hospital's multidisciplinary Environment of Care Committee.
EOC Management Plans:
Develops and evaluates the mandatory EOC safety programs, covering Fire Safety, Hazardous Materials, Medical Equipment, Utilities, Security, and Emergency Management.
Incident Investigation:
Leads clinical Root Cause Analyses (RCA) for sentinel events and reviews near-miss patient data.
Risk Assessments:
Performs Pre-Construction Risk Assessments (PCRA) and Infection Control Risk Assessments (ICRA) alongside facilities and infection prevention teams.
Safety Surveillance:
Conducts routine hazard surveillance tours and environmental audits across all clinical and non-clinical units.
Staff Education:
Designs and delivers mandatory safety training regarding medical errors, hazard identification, and life safety codes.
Required QualificationsEducation:
Bachelor's degree in Healthcare Administration, Nursing, Environmental Health, or a related field (Master's degree or clinical RN/MD license strongly preferred).
Experience:
Minimum of 3 to 5 years of experience managing acute care safety, hospital risk management, or healthcare quality improvement programs.
Certifications:
Certified Professional in Patient Safety (CPPS) or Certified Healthcare Safety Professional (CHSP) designations are highly desirable.
Key Skills and CompetenciesKnowledge:
Deep familiarity with NFPA Life Safety Codes, OSHA standards, and Joint Commission National Patient Safety Goals.
Analytics:
Proficiency in tracing clinical workflows, mapping data trends, and writing technical correction plans.
Communication:
Strong collaborative skills to align front-line clinical staff, facilities engineers, and senior hospital executives. Extensive travel is required.
Pay:
$75,000.00 - $100,000.00 per year
