About the Role We are seeking a qualified, experienced, full-time Safety Manager to join our growing team. As a core member of our operations team, you will work closely with project managers, site supervisors, licensed electricians, and installation crews to plan and execute work safely across our rooftop and ground-mounted solar projects. This is a permanent, full-time position with stable, year-round hours. You will play a central role in expanding and sustaining Maine Solar Solutions' safety culture — ensuring our teams can deliver high-quality solar installations and electrical contracting services while going home safe every day. The ideal candidate has experience as a safety coordinator, safety manager, or construction foreman, overseeing crews of 25-30 field employees on solar, electrical, or similar construction projects. You will find that our employees are safety focused and engaged in operating safely across the company. Key Responsibilities Develop and implement task-specific Safe Work Plans (SWPs) and lead daily/weekly Toolbox Talks focused on solar installation hazards (electrical work, working at heights, lifting and rigging, trenching, equipment operation) Implement and maintain Site-Specific Health and Safety Plans for ground-mounted arrays and rooftop solar systems Ensure full compliance with applicable Federal, State, and local safety regulations, including OSHA construction standards, electrical codes, and fall protection requirements Conduct regular field safety inspections and audits on active job sites to identify hazards and verify control measures are in place Lead incident and near-miss investigations, identify root causes, and develop practical corrective and preventive actions Coordinate and deliver jobsite safety meetings and trainings (lockout/tagout, energized work, ladder and scaffold safety, fall protection, traffic control, ergonomics) Collaborate with project managers, site supervisors, and subcontractors to integrate safety into pre-task planning and Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs) Maintain organized safety documentation, including SWPs, inspection reports, training records, and incident logs Track and report on safety performance metrics; present updates to management as required Communicate clearly, professionally, and proactively with both field and office personnel Use Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) to create reports, presentations, and tracking tools Participate in company-wide systems for project tracking, communication, and safety performance metrics Qualifications — Required Minimum five (5) years of Environment, Health & Safety (EHS) experience in construction, preferably solar, electrical, or related infrastructure OSHA 30-Hour Construction Safety Training Course (OSHA 30) — current certification required Solid working knowledge of OSHA standards: electrical safety, fall protection, trenching and excavation, and traffic control Proven experience writing Safe Work Plans, Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs), and similar task-based safety documents Demonstrated ability to deliver EHS training to field personnel and supervisors Strong communication and interpersonal skills; able to work with field crews and office management alike Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) for creating reports, presentations, and tracking tools Valid driver's license with a clean driving record and reliable personal transportation Qualifications — Preferred Prior safety leadership experience on residential/commercial construction and solar energy projects (ground-mount or rooftop) or electrical construction Experience with digital safety inspection tools or collaborative project management platforms Professional safety certification (CSP, CHST, STSC, or equivalent) Who We're Looking For The ideal candidate is someone who: Is honest, ethical, and professional in all interactions Is a collaborative team player who communicates clearly and respectfully with field and office personnel Holds themselves to high standards — motivated to do it right and continuously improve Is proactive and solutions-oriented, bringing ideas to strengthen our safety culture Is independent, reliable, and dependable, able to manage multiple projects with minimal direct supervision Has genuine pride in their work and real care for the people around them Compensation & Benefits Maine Solar Solutions offers a competitive, full-time compensation package commensurate with experience and qualifications, including: Salary range: $62,000
