Job Description

The Wellbeing, Health, and Safety (WHS) Lead position is responsible for leading a team of wellbeing, health and safety specialists whose primary duties are ensuring the wellbeing, health, and safety of employees. In addition, the lead position serves as the key advisor to plant management on the implementation and management of health, safety and wellbeing initiatives. The WHS Lead will report to the Division Lead in the Corporate WHS Staff.

The job responsibilities include, and are not limited to the following:

Direct and implement WHS processes designed to improve key performance metricsEnsure compliance to federal, state, provincial and local regulations, and Corporate Policies and ProceduresDirect and implement standardized WHS assessments and programs to address needed trainingAudit WHS processes and provide necessary follow up to ensure complianceOversee root cause analysis of safety incidents/accidents and facilitate implementation of corrective action measuresOversee requirements for new equipment programs with Engineering/FacilitiesLead implementation/integration of ergonomic processesManage the timely submission of documentation, reports, permit applications, inventories and surveys to appropriate government and regulatory agenciesCoordinate communication of WHS regulatory activity with plant and corporate leadershipDirect the implementation and sustainment of applicable ISO CertificationsSupport all shifts and work additional hours as required
Basic Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Environmental, Safety, Engineering, Science or related fieldMinimum of 10 years Safety, Environmental, Engineering or related experience in a manufacturing environmentStrong understanding and application of federal, state, provincial and local environmental and safety regulations and requirementsEffective written and verbal communication, excellent presentation skillsStrong leadership, analytical and problem solving skillsProficient in Microsoft Office suite and /or other software applicationsThe Wellbeing, Health, and Safety (WHS) Lead position is responsible for leading a team of wellbeing, health and safety specialists whose primary duties are ensuring the wellbeing, health, and safety of employees.
