N/A Minimum Qualifications Current certification in American Red Cross Adult and Pediatric First Aid/CPR/AED. Current certification in CPR for the Professional Rescuer and Healthcare Providers. Current American Red Cross Lifeguard certification. Current American Red Cross Lifeguard Instructor certification. Ability to provide and upload all required certification documentation Desired Qualifications Strong verbal communication and demonstration skills. Ability to teach effectively in an adult learning environment. Ability to evaluate and provide constructive feedback to learners. Position Purpose The Safety Education Manager collaborates with the University Recreation and Well-Being staff, including but not limited to the Associate Director, Assistant Director of Facility Operations, and Student Development Coordinator, to coordinate and deliver American Red Cross CPR, First Aid/AED, and lifeguard certification courses for University Recreation and Well-Being employees, the OU campus community, and external participants as needed. This role supports the planning, marketing, and implementation of safety training programs that enhance community engagement and generate revenue for University Recreation and Well-Being. The position requires a flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, and occasional daytime hours, as needed. The number of weekly hours varies depending on the time of the semester and the need. The Safety Education Manager plays a vital role in equipping Rec Well staff and the OU community with the skills and confidence to respond effectively in emergency situations, helping to save lives while ensuring compliance with required workplace certifications. Job Duties Instruct, evaluate, and certify participants in emergency response skills, including CPR, First Aid/AED, Lifeguarding, and water rescue techniques. Support the planning, promotion, and delivery of community safety training programs to increase participation and engagement. Design and facilitate in-service training sessions to maintain and enhance lifeguard staff skills and readiness. Maintain a safe and effective learning environment; monitor attendance and manage certification documentation and records. Evaluate participant competency through hands-on skill assessments and written examinations. Inspect, maintain, and sanitize training equipment, including mannequins and AED trainers, ensuring readiness and compliance with safety standards. Foster a positive, inclusive, and engaging learning environment that supports participant confidence and skill development.
