Full Job Description Job Overview:
Are you passionate about safety and consider yourself a dynamic leader? Join our School Bus team for Hopkins School District out of our Golden Valley Garage as a Safety Supervisor, where you will play a key role in ensuring the safety of our operators, passengers, and operations. This position offers the opportunity to drive safety initiatives and help maintain the quality service our customers expect.
Key Responsibilities:
Ensure the safe delivery of services to passengers and employees. Monitor employee performance, providing retraining and discipline as needed. Collaborate with the management team to plan and conduct monthly safety meetings. Investigate and resolve safety concerns, accidents, and incidents. Step in for route substitutions or dispatching when required. Counsel staff on procedures and performance. Develop innovative solutions for safety issues. Communicate important updates to the Project Manager. Perform other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Experience in safety-sensitive or transportation roles is preferred. Strong leadership and organizational abilities. Excellent problem-solving skills with a calm demeanor under pressure. Ability to manage diverse teams and foster positive working relationships. Proficient in handling emergency situations and liaising with operators and emergency personnel. Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and willingness to learn specialized software. Must obtain a Class B license with air brake, school bus and passenger endorsement within 90 days of hire. Willingness to participate in a rotating on-call supervisory schedule (approx. 20 weeks). Pre-employment drug/alcohol test and background check required.
