Field-Based Position Summary The Field Safety Officer is responsible for promoting and maintaining a safe work environment across all Looks Great Services of MS operations. This position works directly with field crews, supervisors, and management to ensure compliance with company safety policies, OSHA regulations, and industry best practices. The Field Safety Officer conducts jobsite inspections, delivers training, investigates incidents, identifies hazards, and supports a proactive safety culture focused on preventing injuries, vehicle accidents, equipment damage, and property loss. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Safety Leadership Promote and reinforce a company-wide culture of safety and accountability. Serve as a visible safety resource for field employees and supervisors. Lead by example in demonstrating safe work practices and professional conduct. Support management in achieving company safety goals and objectives. Field Inspections and Audits Conduct regular safety inspections of jobsites, facilities, vehicles, trailers, and equipment. Identify hazards and unsafe conditions and recommend corrective actions. Document inspection findings and follow up to ensure corrective measures are completed. Monitor compliance with company safety policies and procedures. Training and Development Conduct new employee safety orientation. Deliver ongoing safety training for field employees, supervisors, and managers. Coordinate toolbox talks, safety meetings, and seasonal training programs. Maintain records of employee certifications, licenses, and training requirements. Assist supervisors in coaching employees on safe work practices. Incident Investigation Respond to workplace incidents, vehicle accidents, near misses, and property damage events. Conduct thorough investigations to determine root causes. Prepare detailed incident reports and corrective action recommendations. Track incident trends and develop preventive measures. Equipment and Vehicle Safety Monitor safe operation of trucks, trailers, landscaping equipment, power tools, and specialized machinery. Verify completion of vehicle and equipment inspections. Assist in developing and implementing equipment safety procedures. Promote defensive driving practices and fleet safety initiatives. Emergency Preparedness Assist with development and implementation of emergency response procedures. Support severe weather preparedness and emergency communications. Coordinate first aid, CPR, and emergency response training as needed. Qualifications Required High school diploma or equivalent. Minimum of 3 years of safety experience in landscaping, construction, grounds maintenance, or a related field. Working knowledge of OSHA standards and safety regulations. Strong communication and leadership skills. Ability to conduct training and present information effectively. Valid driver's license with acceptable driving record. Proficiency with Microsoft Office and digital reporting systems. Preferred OSHA 30-Hour Certification. Certified Safety Professional (CSP) or Occupational Health and Safety Technician (OHST). First Aid/CPR/AED Certification. Experience in commercial landscaping or grounds maintenance operations. Experience with fleet safety programs and DOT compliance. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Strong hazard recognition and risk assessment skills. Ability to influence and coach employees at all levels. Effective problem-solving and root cause analysis abilities. Strong organizational and documentation skills. Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision. Physical Requirements Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions. Frequent walking on uneven terrain. Ability to climb, bend, kneel, and inspect equipment and work areas. Ability to lift up to 40 pounds occasionally. Ability to travel between jobsites throughout the service area. Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) Reduction in recordable injuries and incidents. Reduction in vehicle accidents and equipment damage. Completion rate of scheduled safety inspections. Completion rate of required safety training. Timeliness and quality of incident investigations. OSHA compliance and audit results. Employee participation in safety initiatives. Near-miss reporting and corrective action completion rates. Authority Stop work when unsafe conditions present an immediate risk to employees, the public, or company property. Recommend corrective actions and disciplinary measures related to safety violations. Remove unsafe equipment from service until deficiencies are corrected.
