Job Description

GENERAL SUMMARY
The Safety Quality Manager is responsible for leading plant safety, regulatory compliance, and quality management initiatives to support a safe, efficient, and high-performing operation at Darnel. This role drives continuous improvement in workplace safety, product quality, inspection readiness, incident prevention, corrective action follow-through, and compliance with internal standards and applicable regulations. The position partners closely with operations, maintenance, HR, and leadership to build a culture of accountability, prevention, and operational excellence.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Lead the plant's safety and quality programs to ensure compliance with company standards, customer requirements, and applicable federal, state, and local regulations.
  • Administer and monitor safety policies, procedures, audits, inspections, and training programs to reduce risk and prevent workplace incidents.
  • Oversee incident investigations, root cause analysis, corrective actions, and follow-up activities to ensure timely resolution and continuous improvement.
  • Coordinate routine and special inspections, including fire pump inspections, safety checks, and other facility compliance activities.
  • Track, analyze, and report key safety and quality performance indicators, trends, and improvement opportunities to plant leadership.
  • Partner with operations, maintenance, and HR to ensure employees receive required training, certifications, and reinforcement of safe work practices.
  • Maintain documentation related to OSHA compliance, regulatory reporting, safety meetings, corrective actions, and audit readiness.
  • Lead internal quality reviews and support responses to customer complaints, non-conformances, and process deviations.
  • Drive corrective and preventive actions related to product quality, process control, and operational standards.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives that enhance workplace safety, product consistency, process reliability, and team accountability.
  • Collaborate with site leadership on emergency response preparedness, hazard communication, risk assessments, and environmental health and safety priorities.
  • Serve as a resource to supervisors and managers on safety expectations, quality standards, and compliance-related matters.
  • Promote a proactive safety culture by encouraging employee engagement, hazard reporting, and consistent follow-through on action items.
  • Manage and organize records, reports, and communications associated with safety and quality responsibilities.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned in support of plant operations and organizational excellence.
JOB SPECIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS
  • Bachelor's degree in Safety, Quality, Engineering, Operations, Industrial Management, Environmental Health and Safety, or a related field preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in safety, quality, manufacturing, or plant operations leadership.
  • Experience managing safety compliance programs, audits, inspections, incident investigations, and corrective action processes.
  • Knowledge of OSHA regulations, workplace safety practices, quality systems, and continuous improvement methodologies.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills with the ability to identify trends and implement practical solutions.
  • Ability to lead cross-functional initiatives and influence teams across all levels of the organization.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to deliver training, reports, and recommendations effectively.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and experience maintaining compliance and operational records.
  • Bilingual English/Spanish is a plus.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Vision correctable to normal range. Ability to move throughout office and manufacturing environments, including frequent walking, standing, bending, and stooping. May occasionally lift or move items up to 25 pounds. Must be able to observe workplace conditions, use standard office equipment, and communicate clearly in person and in writing.
WORKING CONDITIONS
This role operates in both office and manufacturing environments. The position requires regular exposure to a plant setting with varying temperatures, machine noise, moving equipment, and the use of personal protective equipment as required. The Safety Quality Manager must be able to work effectively around active production areas while maintaining compliance with all safety rules and protocols. This role requires availability to assist with quality or safety concerns that may take place outside of normal working hours.
Pay:
$110,000.00 - $125,000.00 per year
