Job Description
Safety Manager Since the 1980's we have built millions of square feet worth billions of dollars and have been ranked among the Top General Contractors nationwide by Engineering News Record as well as among the Top 50 Retail Contractors by Shopping Center World. Our construction experience includes mid
- and high-rise office buildings; retail strip malls and power centers; multifamily apartments; hotels and conference centers; single and multi-tenant industrial, distribution and manufacturing structures; educational, medical and special purpose facilities; government projects; tenant improvements; parking garages and town centers.
- Manage jobsite safety compliance
- Identify and control hazardous conditions, enforce OSHA (Federal & State) requirements, and ensure all work follows the Project Safety Manual
- Oversee subcontractor safety readiness
- Verify new subcontractors meet all safety requirements before starting work and provide site specific safety orientation to all personnel.
- Review and enforce JHAs
- Ensure subcontractors prepare accurate Job Hazard Analyses and confirm that the planned safety measures are actually implemented in the field
- Lead safety meetings and communication
- Drive safety discussions in weekly coordination meetings, hold special meetings when needed, and maintain a strong leadership presence around safety.
- Manage incident reporting and investigations
- Coordinate accident and injury reports, ensure proper submission to insurance carriers, and document all violations, unsafe acts, and conditions.
- Provide training and safety resources
- Develop and deliver safety training, maintain first aid/rescue team readiness, and ensure availability of PPE and safety equipment.
- Maintain required safety documentation
- Keep MSDS/Hazmat files, issue permits (confined space, hot work), maintain
OSHA 300
logs, and ensure all safety records are complete and accurate. What You Need for this Position- Relevant safety education or experience
- Bachelor's degree in Safety or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and hands on experience
- Construction/industrial safety background
- 3+ recent years of full time safety work in construction environments.
- Professional safety certifications
CSP, ASP, CHST
preferred; OSHA 30 required; First Aid/CPR/AED certification is a plus.- Technical safety skills
- Experience training others in crane safety, fall protection, excavation, scaffolding, and heavy equipment operations
- Construction plan literacy
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings to identify hazards and plan safe work.
- Strong communication and leadership
