Job Description

Job Title:
EHS Manager Job Description The EHS Manager serves as an on-site safety leader, ensuring all work is planned and executed in alignment with the Project HSE Plan and regulatory requirements. This role partners closely with field supervision, craft personnel, and contractors to promote a strong safety culture, prevent incidents, and drive continuous improvement. The EHS Manager also supports project execution and client initiatives through clear proposals, realistic timelines, and strong budget/labor awareness, while building and growing client relationships. Responsibilities Review, understand, and acknowledge the HSE Plan before field work begins. Enforce compliance with HSE requirements and all project permits such as hot work, confined space, and LOTO. Support site audits, safety engagements, and ongoing compliance efforts. Prevent work that violates the HSE Plan and escalate concerns as needed. Verify personnel qualifications, training, and certifications. Develop and review JHAs and adapt to changing conditions. Ensure crews are properly equipped, supervised, and using appropriate PPE. Confirm equipment inspections and Competent Person documentation. Maintain awareness of upcoming work to ensure proper planning and execution. Spend majority of time in the field supporting crews and supervision. Partner with other contractors to ensure safe, coordinated work execution. Conduct weekly HSE assessments and reinforce safety expectations. Promote respectful, professional communication and strong safety behaviors. Encourage reporting of safety observations and maintain strong housekeeping standards. Ensure crews are prepared for emergency scenarios. Report and participate in the investigation of all incidents and near misses. Attend required safety meetings and submit completed documentation in a timely manner. Recommend improvements to HSE practices and culture. Understand project scope, objectives, and upcoming work activities. Ensure work is properly planned to avoid preventable stoppages. Build strong client relationships and identify opportunities to expand services. Support project planning, documentation, and account management efforts. Collaborate with clients to identify risks and implement long-term solutions. Essential Skills 5-10 years of site-based EHS experience on construction or industrial projects. Hands-on experience with JHAs, SPAs, work permits, and field coaching. Strong knowledge of hazard controls, incident investigation, and safety leadership. Proficiency with Microsoft Office 365 (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio, Project). Ability to partner with Project Leads/Managers to keep work on schedule, within budget, and aligned with scope and client expectations. Strong client communication skills with a solid technical understanding. Experience analyzing business processes, identifying gaps, and improving efficiencies. Ability to develop process flow diagrams. Experience with system impact assessments and component criticality analysis. Understanding of calibration/maintenance programs and FDA requirements. Familiarity with computer system validation and
CMMS/CCMS
implementations. Strong writing skills for SOPs, reports, procedures, and policies. Working knowledge of GMP, GCP, GLP, and 21 CFR Part 11. Additional Skills & Qualifications OSHA 30 (Construction or General Industry) or equivalent certification. Preferred certifications such as
CHST, CSP, ASP, OHST, STSC, NEBOSH.
Competent Person certifications in areas like Fall Protection, Confined Space, and Mobile Equipment. First Aid / CPR / AED certification. Bachelor's degree in Life Sciences or a related technical field or equivalent military training. 6+ years of instrumentation experience in the life sciences industry. Familiarity with quality systems and life sciences manufacturing. Work Environment The work environment involves fieldwork supporting crews and supervision, ensuring safety compliance and promoting a strong safety culture. The role requires spending a significant amount of time in the field, working closely with contractors and other personnel to coordinate safe work execution. The position also involves attending safety meetings and collaborating with clients to identify risks and implement solutions. Job Type & Location This is a Permanent position based out of Wilson, NC. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $110000.00 - $125000.00/yr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
