Job Description The Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) Group Leader is responsible for leading and managing all safety, environmental, and regulatory compliance activities within a manufacturing facility. This role provides strategic direction and day-to-day oversight for the site's EHS programs while supervising the Safety Coordinator and Environmental Engineer. The EHS Group Leader drives a proactive safety culture, ensures compliance with federal, state, and local regulations, and partners with operations leadership to reduce risk, improve environmental performance, and support operational excellence.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead, mentor, and develop the Safety Coordinator and Environmental Engineer.
  • Serve as the primary EHS resource for plant leadership and employees.
  • Develop, implement, and monitor safety programs and policies to ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations (e.g., OSHA).
  • Oversee environmental compliance programs related to air, water, waste, hazardous materials, and sustainability initiatives.
  • Ensure compliance with EPA and applicable state/local environmental regulations.
  • Manage environmental permitting, reporting, inspections, and audits.
  • Support waste reduction, recycling, and sustainability initiatives to improve environmental performance.
  • Lead efforts to conduct regular audits, inspections, and risk assessments across the facility.
  • Investigate workplace accidents, incidents, and near misses; analyze root causes and recommend?corrective/preventative?actions.
  • Coordinate and facilitate safety training programs for employees, supervisors, and contractors
  • Maintain accurate records of safety incidents, training, equipment inspections, and corrective actions.
  • Serve as a key contact for emergency response coordination and drills.
  • Work collaboratively with production teams and management to identify hazards and implement process improvements.
  • Ensure proper use and maintenance of personal protective equipment (PPE) and safety devices.
  • Track and report safety metrics to senior leadership on a regular basis.

  • 3+ years of experience as an EHS, with at least 1 year in a leadership role
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field preferred (EHS, Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Science, Industrial or Mechanical engineering
  • Comfortable with working in an environment where live ammunition is regularly discharged.
  • OSHA certification
  • Certified Safety Professional (CSP)
