Responsibilities:
The incumbent will assist in the day-to-day management of Safety Engineering and Fire Safety sections within the Risk Assessment and Fire Safety Division. Furthermore, the incumbent will be assigned to various projects of significant nature that require constant dedicated personnel. The scope includes direction of policies and procedures focusing on proactive and reactive reduction/elimination of hazards through safety engineering, as well as Fire and Life Safety measures, in the design and construction phases of work. The incumbent will be required to manage the review of NYCT Capital Project design documents inclusive of scope of work, engineering designs and specifications for stations and facility projects, as well as participation and coordination of field inspections and design/construction review meetings. Moreover, the incumbents will review, and execute safety engineering and fire safety policies, instruction and guidelines within assigned dedicated Capital Projects. The incumbent will be responsible for analyzing fire statistics and will be responsible for responding to and conducting cause and origin investigation for fires that occur within the system. Must be available for emergency response duties (in company vehicle) and have a valid Driver's license.
Education and Experience:
A Baccalaureate degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience from an accredited college may be considered in lieu of a degree, major field of study Engineering; and five (5) years of experience with three (3) years of managerial or supervisory experience.
Desired Skills:
Extensive knowledge of NYCT bus and rail operations. Familiarity with Federal, State, and Local Laws, standards and guidelines pertaining to engineering practices. Good problem-solving skills as necessary to meet the everyday challenges of this position. Fire origin and cause investigation experience Code Enforcement Official Certification (Preferred) Associate Safety Professional Certification (ASP) Certified Safety Professional (CSP)
