Senior Site Safety Manager Reports To Director of Safety Department Safety / Risk Management Position Summary The Senior Site Safety Manager is responsible for leading and managing all site-level safety programs to ensure a safe and compliant work environment. This role oversees regulatory compliance, incident prevention, safety training, and workforce engagement across assigned projects or facilities. The Senior Site Safety Manager works closely with the Director of Safety and site leadership to implement safety strategies, support operational goals, and foster a culture of safety excellence. The position supervises on-site Safety Technicians and represents the Safety Department with customers, contractors, and other on-site stakeholders. In the absence of assigned Safety Technicians, this role functions as a working safety professional and directly performs site safety oversight, inspections, training, and compliance responsibilities. Key Responsibilities Lead and manage all site safety programs and initiatives to ensure compliance with company policies and regulatory requirements (OSHA, local, state, and federal regulations). Serve as the primary safety leader on-site, providing guidance and support to supervisors, managers, and employees. Supervise and manage Safety Technicians and other on-site safety personnel, providing direction, training, and performance oversight. Coordinate daily activities of the safety team to ensure effective site monitoring, inspections, and compliance support. Conduct regular site safety inspections, audits, and hazard assessments to identify risks and implement corrective actions. Investigate incidents, near misses, and injuries, determine root causes, and implement preventative measures. Deliver safety training programs, including toolbox talks, ongoing safety education, and compliance training. Coordinate and lead new hire safety onboarding and orientation, ensuring employees and contractors receive required safety training before beginning work. Support and facilitate new hire safety training programs to ensure employees understand company policies, procedures, and hazard controls. Serve as the acting on-site safety professional when Safety Technicians are not assigned, performing daily safety monitoring, inspections, training, and compliance oversight. Partner with operations and site leadership to integrate safety into operational planning and daily work activities. Represent the Safety Department in interactions with customers, contractors, and other on-site representatives, ensuring safety expectations and compliance standards are communicated and maintained. Participate in customer meetings, site walks, and safety reviews when required. Monitor and ensure proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and adherence to safety procedures. Maintain accurate safety records, reports, training documentation, and compliance documentation. Track and analyze safety metrics and trends, providing reports and recommendations to the Director of Safety. Support regulatory inspections, audits, and customer safety reviews. Promote a proactive safety culture through employee engagement and continuous improvement initiatives. Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Occupational Safety, Environmental Health, Construction Management, or related field preferred. 5-10+ years of safety management experience, preferably in construction, industrial, or manufacturing environments. Leadership or supervisory experience, including managing safety personnel or site safety teams. Demonstrated experience managing site safety programs, employee safety training, and compliance initiatives. Strong knowledge of OSHA regulations and safety management systems. Professional safety certification preferred (CSP, ASP, CHST, or OSHA certifications). Skills & Competencies Strong leadership and team management skills. Supervisory Responsibilities Directly supervises and manages on-site Safety Technicians and other assigned safety personnel. Provides daily direction, coaching, and support to safety staff to ensure consistent implementation of company safety programs. Assists in training, mentoring, and professional development of Safety Technicians. Conducts performance evaluations and provides feedback to ensure safety personnel meet organizational standards and expectations. Coordinates safety team schedules and responsibilities to ensure adequate safety coverage across job sites and shifts. When Safety Technicians are not assigned to a project or site, the Senior Site Safety Manager assumes direct responsibility for all site safety functions. Working Conditions Position requires daily presence in field environments, including active job sites and operational areas. Work is performed primarily outdoors in all weather conditions year-round, including heat, cold, rain, and other environmental conditions. Travel to multiple job sites is required to support safety oversight, inspections, training, and operational needs. Physical Requirements Ability to walk, stand, and move throughout active job sites for extended periods of time. Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions year-round. Must be able to navigate uneven terrain, climb stairs or ladders, and access elevated work areas when necessary. Ability to wear and properly utilize required personal protective equipment (PPE). Ability to occasionally lift and carry materials or equipment up to 25-40 pounds as needed.
