This role is a key partner to plant leadership, driving a proactive safety culture and ensuring compliance with all regulatory and corporate standards. The EHS Manager oversees critical programs including safety, fire protection, environmental compliance, industrial hygiene, construction safety, training, and site security. This position plays a central role in identifying risks, implementing preventive measures, and monitoring performance to ensure a safe and compliant work environment. Key Responsibilities Lead and manage the plant's OHSE management system, ensuring alignment with regulatory and company requirements
Partner with plant leadership to develop and execute the site OHSE strategy, including assigning ownership and driving implementation
Drive a strong safety culture through leadership, communication, recognition programs, and employee engagement initiatives
Conduct OHSE audits, inspections, and analyses to ensure employee safety and regulatory compliance; develop and track corrective action plans to completion
Ensure critical risk assessments and job safety analyses are completed and that corrective actions are implemented effectively
Collaborate cross-functionally with department personnel, supervisors, and operators to identify, resolve, and prevent workplace hazards
Review and oversee incident investigations to ensure completeness and accuracy; enter finalized reports into the corporate incident management system
Analyze incident data, audit findings, and employee feedback to identify trends and prioritize improvement efforts
Serve as the primary liaison for external audits and inspections (e.g., OSHA, environmental, fire), ensuring readiness and compliance
Maintain required regulatory records, including
OSHA 300
logs, and ensure proper posting and documentation
Oversee environmental, fire protection, industrial hygiene, and site security programs to ensure compliance and effectiveness
Support construction and contractor activities by monitoring performance and ensuring adherence to safe work practices
Chair plant safety committees and communicate OHSE updates through meetings, reports, and other communication channels
Develop, deliver, and manage safety training programs for employees, contractors, and visitors; track compliance and maintain training records
Partner with HR to support workers' compensation coordination, job training programs, and safe work practices development
Develop and manage the annual OHSE budget, monitoring performance against targets
Maintain and update Safety Data Sheets (SDS) and related systems
Work closely with Regional and Corporate Safety teams to align on standards, share best practices, and drive continuous improvement
Maintain a strong presence on the plant floor to coach, mentor, and reinforce safe behavior
Uphold the company's food safety and quality standards, complying with all SQF requirements.
