Job Description

Job purpose Provides basic to routine technical assistance in the establishment and enforcement of policies and regulations relating to the control of environmental and occupational hazards. Inspects and monitors established policies and procedures for the safe use and control of hazardous materials and or occupational hazards. Duties and responsibilities
  • Ensures compliance with federal, state, and local safety laws, regulations, codes, and rules. Assist in monthly and annual requirements including, but not limited to, audiograms, noise monitoring, and inspections.
  • Ensures completion of required OSHA recordkeeping and reporting (OSHA 300 Log).
  • Provides technical and administrative support to the safety committee.
  • Stops operations and activities that could harm employees or equipment.
  • Identifies opportunities to minimize workplace injuries, accidents, and health problems.
  • Conducts employee training on applicable safety standards.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of safety training programs. Programs may include, but are not limited to, monthly safety topics, quarterly safety council meetings, and specific training such as confined spaces, LOTO, Hazard Communications, ETC. Reviews said safety training and recommended revisions, improvements, and updates.
  • Conducts safety inspections and audits to assess employee compliance with safety regulations.
  • Review and assist in accident/incident investigations. Recommend alternate means and methods by which injuries/incidents and their related costs may be reduced.
  • Work with HR in submitting workers compensation claims.
  • Present monthly safety data to the management team during operational reviews.
  • Monitor work areas for hazards and employee compliance to safety and environmental policies.
  • Manage and monitor all guests and activities in the facility.
  • Maintain requirement, safety training records and certifications.
  • Provides and updates informational postings, signs, posters, barriers, and other materials to warn of potential and actual safety hazards and to prevent access to hazardous conditions.
  • Represents the company in community or industry safety groups and programs.
  • Manages workforce regarding promoting and enacting continuous improvement ideas, coordinating safety activities performed by operators, supervision, and management.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications Required Skills/Abilities:
Extensive knowledge of current company safety policies and applicable Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) standards. Ability to speak both English and Spanish fluently. Maintain all records, trainings, and policies in both English and Spanish. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Ability to conduct training. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from employees. Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail. Strong supervisory and leadership skills.
Education and Experience:
Bachelor's degree in health and safety, Safety Engineering, Environmental Health, or related field required. At least five years of occupational health and safety experience in an industrial environment required. OSHA 30 or higher preferred. Training in medical treatment, such as, CPR, First Aid, AED, or higher. Knowledge of programs including Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.
Physical Requirements:
Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer. Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds at times. Ability to travel throughout facility as required to conduct safety inspections. Must be able to hear in a loud environment.
