Job Description

Demolition Safety Professional Job Description The Demolition Safety Professional oversees the safe execution of an asbestos abatement phase and subsequent structural demolition activities on a commercial or industrial site. This role focuses on knowledge-based oversight rather than hands-on removal, ensuring strict compliance with environmental, health, and safety regulations. The professional monitors the removal of regulated and hazardous building materials, supports lab decommissioning and decontamination awareness, and enforces safety protocols around heavy equipment, crane operations, hot work, and contractor activities. Responsibilities Oversee the asbestos abatement phase by providing knowledge-based safety oversight rather than performing hands-on removal. Monitor the removal of regulated and hazardous building materials to ensure compliance with applicable safety and environmental standards. Support and promote lab decommissioning and decontamination awareness, particularly in pharmaceutical or laboratory environments. Transition safety oversight from the abatement phase into full structural demolition activities. Serve as the dedicated on-site safety presence for all demolition-related operations. Enforce safety procedures around heavy equipment use, including excavation and demolition machinery. Oversee and enforce safe crane operations, including rigging and lifting activities. Monitor and enforce hot work safety requirements, including permitting and fire prevention measures. Ensure contractor compliance with site-specific safety plans, OSHA regulations, and environmental health and safety requirements. Identify, evaluate, and communicate potential safety hazards related to hazardous waste and impacted soils. Collaborate with construction and project teams working in federal, Army Corps, or other highly regulated environments to maintain high safety standards. Promote a strong safety culture by providing guidance, coaching, and real-time feedback to site personnel and contractors. Essential Skills Demonstrated experience in commercial or industrial demolition safety. Experience working in pharmaceutical or laboratory facilities. Experience in federal, Army Corps, or other highly regulated construction environments. Experience in safety, construction management, and environmental health and safety (EHS/HSE) management. In-depth knowledge of OSHA regulations and construction safety requirements. OSHA 30-hour or 40-hour safety certification. 40-hour
HAZWOPER
certification, particularly relevant for sites with potentially impacted soils and hazardous waste. Asbestos awareness or abatement training (license not required). Proven oversight experience with crane operations, rigging, and hot work activities. Ability to enforce contractor compliance and maintain a strong on-site safety presence. Solid understanding of environmental safety and hazardous waste handling requirements. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience supporting lab decommissioning and decontamination activities. Experience in construction and demolition work on highly regulated sites. Knowledge of best practices for managing hazardous building materials during demolition. Strong communication skills to effectively interact with contractors, project teams, and site personnel. Ability to adapt safety oversight to changing site conditions during different demolition phases. Work Environment This role is primarily field-based, with approximately 95% of work performed outdoors in all weather conditions. The Demolition Safety Professional works on active construction and demolition sites that may include pharmaceutical or laboratory facilities, commercial or industrial buildings, and highly regulated or federal environments. The position involves regular exposure to heavy equipment operations, crane activities, hot work, and areas with regulated or hazardous building materials and potentially impacted soils. The work requires consistent on-site presence, mobility across uneven terrain, and adherence to all required personal protective equipment and site safety protocol Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of blue bell, PA. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $38.95 - $58.65/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
