Position Overview The EHS Director will handle all environmental, health and safety compliance efforts as well as maintain and establish processes and procedures to ensure the safety of our personnel and the environment. Roles and Responsibilities (Essential Duties and Functions) Manages the environmental, industrial, health and safety team for multiple facilities. Oversees the development, planning, and implementation of environmental, health, and safety policies and procedures (chemical safety, ergonomics, illness and injury prevention, and building safety) within the company. Oversees the preparation of contracts for properly licensed hazardous and radioactive waste disposal firms and monitors waste handling. Develops and oversees company training programs for employees in areas such as compliance training, lab/plant inspection, hazardous material handling, emergency response, industrial hygiene, and life safety. May serve as point of contact / subject matter expert for emergency personnel. Administer the worker's compensation program and the implementation of workplace ergonomics. Ensures appropriate root cause analysis and corrective action is taken where health and safety hazards exist. Monitors performance of Environmental Health and Safety (EH&S) programs and regulatory compliance with all federal and state regulations and handles all contact with government agencies. Conducts or directs facility inspections to identify potentially hazardous conditions, and to ensure facility and procedural compliance with applicable regulations; recommends/implements appropriate corrective actions Leads job hazard evaluations to assess employee health and safety risks and develop appropriate improvement plans. Conducts or directs employee safety, health and environmental training and monthly safety meetings. Represents sites during regulatory inspections and in the course of routine periodic corporate audits. Prepares and executes action plan to close audit findings. Maintains all required records applicable to safety, health and environmental compliance, up to but not limited to
OSHA 300
Logs, MSHA specific standards, Incident Root Cause Investigations, SDS's, and chemical inventory. Direct compliance team for all environmental and legal permitting within State & Federal regulatory compliance. Support the recruitment, development and diversity of current and future talent. Act as liaison with CRH and drive all CRH Safety initiatives throughout the organization. Perform all other duties as assigned. Marginal Duties and Functions Varies duties as per requested by management Qualifications To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Education/Experience Required Bachelor's degree (B.S. or B.E.) from an accredited four-year college or university, or equivalent combination of education and experience, with at least 10 years of relevant practical experience. OSHA 1910, OSHA
1926 and MSHA regulation knowledge preferred Knowledge of EHS regulations & ISO certifications, EHS Management systems and current trends in EHS Culture Any equivalent combination of experience and training that provides the preferred knowledge, skills and abilities. High level of proficiency with all Microsoft Office applications including Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint Effective team development capability, exemplified by a track record of leading, coaching and developing EHS professionals Work Requirements Strict adherence to safety requirements and procedures as outlined in the Employee Handbook. Travel to various work sites is required. Must be willing to work nights and weekends when required. Required to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) in designated areas as stated by OSHA and/or MSHA. Protective equipment that may be required, but not limited to, for this position is: Face Shield, Safety Glasses, Safety (hard toe) Shoes, Dust masks & Hearing Protection Knowledge/Skill Requirements Strong skills with Microsoft Office and the ability to rapidly learn different software applications. Developed analytical and problem-solving abilities. Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal skills. Self - motivation and ability to work with minimal supervision. Demonstrated ability to adjust to changing schedules and projects. Strong ability to research data to support regulatory requirements. Display a professional and courteous attitude to co-workers, supervisors and the general public at all times supporting the company's mission and objectives. Ability to interact with vendors, plant employees and different levels of management. Strict adherence to CRH and the company's safety requirements and procedures. Willingness to work in a team environment and assist co-workers or supervisors as needed.
