The opportunity You lead and oversee all aspects of Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) for Hitachi Energy's Global High Voltage Business Unit, ensuring adherence to global standards, local regulations, and company policies while promoting a safe and sustainable working environment. The location for this role is flexible within Europe and will be determined in subsequent stages. How you will make an impact Develop, implement, and maintain the global HSE strategy, policies, and procedures tailored to high voltage operations. Provide expert HSE guidance and support to all High Voltage Business Unit sites and projects worldwide. Conduct and oversee HSE risk assessments, audits, and inspections, identifying potential hazards and ensuring corrective actions are implemented. Ensure compliance with all applicable national and international HSE laws, regulations, and industry standards (e.g., ISO 45001, ISO 14001). Lead incident investigations and root cause analyses, implementing preventive measures to reduce future occurrences. Develop and deliver comprehensive HSE training programs for employees, contractors, and management. Monitor and report on HSE performance metrics, identifying trends and driving continuous improvement initiatives. Collaborate with internal stakeholders, including engineering, operations, legal, and HR, to embed HSE into all business processes. Manage HSE-related documentation, record-keeping, and reporting requirements. Represent the High Voltage Business Unit in interactions with regulatory authorities, customers, and external stakeholders on HSE matters. Your background You hold a Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Engineering, or a related technical field; a Master's degree is preferred. You bring a minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in HSE management, including at least 5 years in a global or regional role within the high voltage, power transmission, or heavy industry sector. You demonstrate strong expertise in high voltage safety protocols, lockout/tagout procedures, electrical safe work practices, and relevant industry standards. You ideally have a professional certification (e.g., CSP, CIH, NEBOSH Diploma). You have a proven ability to develop and implement effective HSE management systems across diverse geographies and cultural contexts. You possess strong knowledge of international HSE regulations and standards. You have excellent communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills, with the ability to influence and engage stakeholders at all levels. You are proficient in data analysis and reporting tools. You are willing and able to travel internationally as required. You are fluent in English; proficiency in additional languages is an advantage.
