Job Description

Back South Dakota - Site Safety Manager/SSHO Construction Central , SD Contract Hire Enscicon is currently hiring for a Site Safety Manager/SSHO for a turbine/generator outage project in South Dakota.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Assist in conducting regular safety inspections and audits of construction sites to identify hazards and non-compliance issues. Document inspection findings, including safety violations and potential risks. Collaborate with the Site Safety Manager to implement corrective actions. Attend the pre-construction conference, pre-work meetings including preparatory inspection meeting, and periodic in-progress meetings. Assist in incident reporting and investigation procedures, including near misses, injuries, and property damage. Ensure sub-contractor compliance with safety and health requirements. Maintain a list of hazardous chemicals on site and their material safety data sheets. Document and maintain accurate records of incidents and investigations. Assist in the development of corrective action plans and follow-up on their implementation. Assist in coordinating safety training sessions and toolbox talks for employees and subcontractors. Promote a culture of safety awareness among construction personnel. Maintain training records and track compliance. Support the enforcement of safety regulations, policies, and procedures. Assist in ensuring that all construction activities comply with safety requirements. Monitor personal protective equipment (PPE) usage and compliance. Assist in maintaining safety documentation, including safety plans, permits, and emergency response plans. Ensure safety signage and communication tools are up to date. Assist in emergency response planning and drills. Serve as a member of the site's emergency response team, if applicable. Ensure EHS compliance, evaluate tasks to assess hazards posing risks to workers, confirm controls are in place to prevent injuries and unplanned events. Stop work if risks are not sufficiently mitigated
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
High school diploma or equivalent. 5+ years of experience in construction or industrial safety. OSHA 30 (or higher) within the last 5 years. Professional certifications such as CHST, ASP or CSP. Prior hydroelectric turbine/generator overhaul project experience. Practical experience in risk elimination, ergonomics, and project management as it relates to high-hazard tasks such as confined space entry, work at height, lock out tag out, fume management from welding operations, asbestos, and lead management. Basic understanding of safety regulations and best practices. Trainer qualifications in topics such as CPR/First Aid/AED, and Confined Space Rescue. Willingness to learn and adapt to a safety-oriented role. Excellent computer skills and MS Office knowledge Knowledge of the hydroelectric generation industry and related equipment. Knowledge of OSHA and state-specific regulatory requirements. Strategic thinker understanding business and EHS risk. Strong interpersonal and leadership skills. High energy, self-starter a must. Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to work in a team environment and interact with diverse personnel. Attention to detail and strong organizational skills. Fluent in English with excellent oral and written communication skills Demonstrated ability to analyze and resolve problems. Ability to document, plan, market, and execute programs. Demonstrated ability to manage multiple issues with competing priorities.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Documented 24 hours of safety-related education for each of the last three to five years. Prior experience as an SSHO on USACE projects. Experience with High-Voltage electrical equipment.
COMPENSATION/BENEFITS
: Competitive pay, depending on experience. Per diem for candidates who live outside of a 60-mile radius from the project location.
