Position Overview:
We are looking for an experienced EHS Assistant Manager to develop, implement, and maintain programs that ensure safety, health, and environmental compliance. This role involves leading risk assessments, promoting a culture of safety, and ensuring adherence to regulations while supporting operational excellence. This is not intended to be all-inclusive; there may be other duties assigned and may require additional working hours based on business needs.
Key Responsibilities:
Develop, implement, and maintain EHS policies and programs. • Conduct regular workplace inspections, audits, and Job Hazard Analysis (JHA) to identify risks and ensure corrective actions are tracked to completion. Ensure compliance with Federal
OSHA, EPA, ISO
14001, and other local applicable regulations including the creation of development reports for certifications and audits. Lead incident investigations, near miss reporting, utilizing root cause analysis (e.g. 5-Why) to develop and implement preventative measures. Provide mandatory and specialized training, including RCRA, Hazard Communication (HazCom), and Emergency Response to all employees. Develop and maintain the facility's Contingency Plan and coordinate with local emergency responders (e.g. Clarksville Fire Rescue). Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate EHS standards into the design and operation of manufacturing processes. Assist with Workers' Compensation case management and maintain
OSHA 300
logs accurately. Maintain and update Safety Manual. Oversee the selection, training, and fit testing of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), ensuring proper use for chemical handling. Manage environmental permitting and reporting, including Tier II, TRI, and RCRA hazardous waste compliance for the Tennessee facility.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Occupational Health and Safety, or related field. 5-10 years of experience in EHS management, preferably in chemical, petrochemical, or manufacturing industries. In-depth knowledge of safety regulations, environmental laws, and health standards. Proven experience in risk assessment, incident investigation, and program development. Leadership, communication, and analytical skills. Certification in occupational health and safety management (NEBOSH, IOSH) is a plus.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to move throughout the manufacturing plant and office environments, including stair climbing. Occasional lifting of up to 25 pounds. Ability to remain stationary at a desk and operate office equipment.
