Job Description

The Site Safety Supervisor is responsible for overseeing and supporting all safety activities at the assigned facility (ies). This role ensures daily site-level compliance with OSHA and other regulatory requirements, leads safety initiatives, and maintains a proactive safety culture. The Site Safety Supervisor partners closely with site leadership, and plays a vital role in reducing workplace hazards, incidents, and operational risk. Essential Functions Oversee site-level implementation of OSHA policies, programs, and corrective actions. Supervise day-to-day activities of safety personnel assigned to the site; provide coaching, mentoring, and support. Conduct regular site inspections, hazard assessments, and safety audits. Monitor operations and work activities to ensure adherence to safe work practices. Lead investigations for on-site incidents, near misses, and injuries; complete site-specific reports and root cause analyses. Deliver safety training tailored to site operations, including onboarding, annual certifications, toolbox talks, and task-specific training. Partner with HR and site leadership during new employee onboarding and safety orientation. Evaluate current site safety procedures and recommend necessary improvements. Review and approve contractor safety plans, permits, and job hazard analyses. Oversee safety compliance during facility repairs, installations, maintenance activities, and hazardous tasks. Maintain accurate site safety documentation, logs, inspection records, and compliance files. Participate in site emergency response planning, coordination, and drills. Ensure PPE compliance and assist with site-level PPE inventory and distribution. Competencies Strong leadership and team development skills. Ability to analyze complex site conditions and make timely, informed decisions. Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks. Ability to collaborate effectively with site leaders, contractors, and team members. In-depth knowledge of OSHA, EPA, and other applicable regulatory guidelines. Supervisory Responsibility This position has no direct reports. Work Environment This role operates primarily at a port location. Exposure to moving equipment, noise, machinery, chemicals, and changing weather conditions can be expected. Proper PPE must be worn when required. Physical Demands Frequent walking, standing, bending, climbing, and observation of work areas. Ability to access elevated or confined areas when needed. Manual dexterity sufficient to operate tools, equipment, and documentation systems. Ability to lift up to 25 pounds occasionally. Position Type / Expected Hours of Work This is a full-time position. Standard schedule is Monday through Friday; however, shift work, evening, weekend, or on-call responsibilities may be required depending on site operations. Travel Minimal travel; may be required for training, audits, or cross-site support. Required Education and Experience Two-year degree in Occupational Safety, Environmental Management, Industrial Technology, or related field; or equivalent experience. Two or more years of experience in workplace safety or EHS roles, preferably in a site-based environment. Experience conducting audits, investigations, and site-specific safety training. Preferred Education and Experience Bachelor's degree in Safety or related field. Professional certifications such as OSHA 30, CHST, or ASP. Prior supervisory or team leadership experience. Experience in industrial, manufacturing, construction, logistics, or field operations. Work Authorization Must be eligible to obtain a TWIC badge (Transportation Worker Identification Credential) if required by site operations.
