Houston, TX Job Details Full-time From $75,000 a year 18 hours ago Benefits Dental insurance Tuition reimbursement Paid time off Vision insurance Life insurance Qualifications Interpersonal skills Filing OSHA 30 High school diploma or GED Attention to detail Full Job Description Overview Summary the DOT Supervisor is responsible for supporting and enforcing Department of Transportation compliance across field operations, drivers, and fleet activities. This role ensures accurate recordkeeping, assists with audits, monitors driver compliance, and supports safety initiatives in a fast-paced tree care and field services environment. The DOT Supervisor serves as a key link between field crews and DOT management, or Upper Management to ensure safe, compliant, and efficient operations. Essential Functions and Responsibilities
  • Maintain and audit Driver Qualification (DQ) files
  • Assist in ensuring compliance with regulations enforced by the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration
  • Track and verify required driver documentation and certifications
  • Support DOT program administration and reporting
  • Attend DOT related meetings as needed
  • Monitor driver logs and enforce Hours of Service compliance
  • Review ELD data and identify violations or trends
  • Escalate compliance issues to DOT Manager
  • Support DOT drug and alcohol testing program administration under 49 CFR Part 40
  • Assist with reasonable suspicion and post-incident documentation
  • Ensure compliance with company safety policies and procedures
  • Conduct field audits of vehicles, drivers, and job sites
  • Verify proper vehicle inspection and maintenance documentation
  • Assist in identifying unsafe behaviors or non-compliant operations
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date compliance records
  • Assist in preparing for DOT audits, inspections, and investigations
  • Support corrective action tracking and follow-up
  • Provide guidance to drivers and field crews on DOT requirements
  • Assist in onboarding new drivers regarding compliance expectations
  • Communicate violations and corrective actions clearly and consistently Qualifications and Skills
  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • 2-4 years of DOT compliance, fleet, safety, or transportation experience
  • Experience in construction, tree care, utilities, or field operations strongly preferred
  • Working knowledge of FMCSA regulations and DOT compliance requirements
  • Familiarity with ELD systems and driver log review
  • Strong attention to detail and documentation accuracy
  • Ability to work in both office and field environments
  • Strong communication and coaching skills
  • Supervisor Reasonable Suspicion Training under 49 CFR Part 382
  • DOT Drug & Alcohol Awareness Training (may be provided internally or via provider such as DISA Global Solutions)
  • May provide direction to drivers or field personnel on compliance matters
  • Escalates disciplinary or safety issues to DOT Manager or Upper Management
  • Supports enforcement of company safety policies
  • OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 Certification
  • Defensive driving or fleet safety training
  • DOT compliance or ELD system training Physical Requirements
  • Ability to sit for extended periods.
  • Frequent use of hands and fingers for typing, data entry, and document handling
  • Ability to view and work on a computer screen for prolonged periods
  • Clear verbal and written communication with team members and clients
  • Occasional standing, walking, and bending throughout the workday
  • Ability to lift and carry light items (up to 15 pounds), such as files or office supplies
  • Ability to maintain focus and accuracy while performing repetitive tasks
