Full Job Description Position Summary :
The Safety Manager will lead all aspects of safety for Pillar Construction. The Safety Manager is responsible for ensuring site safety and compliance with industry regulations. They are responsible for conducting regular inspections, identifying potential hazards, and implementing appropriate safety measures. Additionally, they cultivate positive working relationships with owners, managers, supervisors, and subcontractors, promoting a safety-focused culture and providing guidance on safety protocols and best practices.
Key Responsibilities:
Office Tasks Leads the team in development, implementation, and evaluation of Safety Programs. Increase safety awareness at the project level. Ensure all staff has required safety training that is required. Prepare spreadsheets track data and develop summary reports to management team. Take responsibility for PPE inventory and distribution for company. Apply full working knowledge of the company's safety management system. Field Tasks Own and coordinate all Safety, OSHA, and client/project compliance with field Forman and managers in the company. Lead job hazard assessments and generate reports and recommendations based on findings. Recommend safety improvement/accident prevention methods. Conduct detailed investigations of existing and potential safety and health hazards making recommendations for corrective actions. Respond to and perform investigations and root cause analysis for accidents and near misses. Manage exposures and controls at projects. Assist project team with owner, GC, and/or sub's safety issues. Manage return to work process (first aid, clinic visits, modifications and release) at signed projects. Perform inspections of all company work areas, shops, trucks, equipment, and field locations. Work productively with Superintendents and Foreman to manage safety. Possesses a working knowledge of the Owner- Contractor Agreement, Contract Documents and the Pillar Subcontract Agreement. Can administer the requirements of the Pillar Subcontract for assigned trades. Training Tasks Take responsibility for efficient delivery of all safety training. Ability to build effective working relationships with all company staff levels. Stay current on changing regulations and well as industry best management practices. Own and conduct new hire safety orientation. Plan and deliver safety meetings, safe starts, and project orientations. Maintain
OSHA 510
certification (every 4 years). Conduct
OSHA 10 & 30
classes, safety training, and project safety meetings.
Qualifications:
3-5 years as a construction safety professional. Strong knowledge of OSHA regulations and requirements. Obtain Safety Trained Supervisor Construction certification (STSC) Working knowledge of drywall/rainscreen trade preferred. Ability to read and interpret regulations. Must possess exceptional writing and verbal communication skills. Must be self-motivated and able to work independently. Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite. Ability to interact with all managers and field staff using good social skills, and ability to work with diverse work groups. The ability to be hands on is essential. Fluency in Spanish preferred
