Role:
We are seeking a dedicated Safety Manager to ensure a safe and compliant work environment for all employees. The Safety Manager is responsible for developing, implementing, and overseeing workplace safety programs to ensure compliance with federal OSHA regulations and Virginia Occupational Safety and Health (VOSH) standards. This role promotes a culture of safety across all job sites, reduces risk, and ensures the health and safety of all employees, subcontractors, and visitors.
Responsibilities & Expectations:
Develop, implement, and maintain company-wide safety policies and procedures in compliance with OSHA (29 CFR 1926) and VOSH regulations. Lead continuous improvement of safety programs, including hazard prevention, risk mitigation, and incident reduction strategies. Maintain necessary safety documentation, records, and reporting systems. Ensure compliance with federal OSHA standards and Virginia Occupational Safety and Health (VOSH) requirements. Stay current on local, state, and federal safety regulations applicable to construction activities. Conduct regular jobsite safety inspections and audits across multiple construction projects. Identify hazards and implement corrective actions in a timely manner. Work closely with project managers and forman to enforce safety standards. Develop and deliver safety training programs (e.g., OSHA 10/30, fall protection, confined space, PPE usage). Conduct new hire safety orientations and ongoing toolbox talks. Ensure all employees and subcontractors receive required safety training. Lead investigations of accidents, near misses, and safety incidents. Prepare detailed reports, root cause analyses, and corrective action plans. Maintain OSHA logs (300, 300A, 301) and ensure accurate reporting. Perform job hazard analyses (JHAs) and pre-task planning evaluations. Collaborate with leadership to identify and mitigate jobsite risks. Assist in developing emergency response plans and procedures. Promote a proactive safety culture through communication, leadership, and example. Encourage employee engagement in safety initiatives and reporting. Serve as a resource and advisor to management on safety-related matters. Other duties as assigned. This Role Looks Like:
Ensures full compliance with OSHA and VOSH regulations across all job sites. Reduces safety incidents through proactive hazard identification and corrective action. Builds a strong, safety-first culture with active employee and subcontractor engagement. Delivers effective safety training and ensures consistent adherence to safety protocols. Conducts regular inspections and maintains accurate, audit-ready documentation. Partners effectively with field teams and leadership to embed safety into daily operations. Uses data and incident analysis to drive continuous improvement in safety performance.
What You'll Bring:
Bachelor's degree in Occupational Safety, Environmental Health, Construction Management, or related field (preferred), or equivalent experience. 5+ years of construction safety experience, preferably in commercial/industrial construction. Experience working in Virginia and familiarity with VOSH standards is highly desirable. OSHA 30-hour Construction Certification (required) CSP (Certified Safety Professional), CHST, or equivalent (preferred) First Aid/CPR certification Additional certifications such as Fall Protection Competent Person, Confined Space, or Trenching & Excavation are a plus Strong knowledge of OSHA construction standards (29 CFR 1926) Excellent communication and training skills Ability to influence and enforce safety compliance across all levels Strong analytical and problem-solving skills Proficient in Microsoft Office and safety management software

Pay range: $80,000 USD to $100,000 USD (annualized). This role is eligible for a discretionary bonus.
