Job Description

Position Summary The Manager of Quality and Risk Management provides organization-wide leadership for quality, patient safety, and risk management at Skyline Health. The manager also serves as the Patient Safety Officer. In partnership with Senior Leadership, this role advances a culture of safety, quality, and continuous improvement, ensures regulatory readiness, and mitigates organizational risk. The manager has authority to escalate unresolved quality, safety or regulatory concerns to Senior Leadership and the Board of Commissioners.
Reports to:
Chief Medical Officer Key Responsibilities Quality, Patient Safety & Medical Staff Oversight Leads the organization-wide Quality and Performance Improvement program. Oversees quality initiatives including patient safety, patient experience, chronic care management, and stewardship programs. Supports medical staff quality oversight, including peer review and OPPE/FPPE, in collaboration with the CMO and Medical Staff leadership. Provides quality and patient safety data to the Board and Medical Staff committees. Quality Data & CMS Reporting Ensures integrity, accuracy, and timely submission of CMS and other required quality data. Oversees quality data validation, internal audits, and performance reporting. Collaborates with clinical leaders and IT/EHR teams to improve documentation and data reliability. Risk Management & Patient Complaints Oversees investigation and resolution of patient complaints, incidents, and events with potential liability exposure. Serves as liaison with the organization's professional liability insurer and utilizes risk mitigation resources. Leads development and implementation of risk management policies and patient safety strategies. Regulatory Compliance & Accreditation Leads regulatory and accreditation readiness, including corrective action planning and sustained compliance. Serves as primary liaison with CMS, the Department of Health, and other regulatory agencies. Develops and maintains policies and processes to ensure compliance with Conditions of Participation. Qualifications Required 3-5 years of healthcare quality, performance improvement, risk, or compliance experience Bachelor's degree (BS or BA) Working knowledge of quality improvement, RCA, and corrective action processes Preferred CPHQ and/or CPHRM (or ability to obtain within two years) Critical Access Hospital or rural healthcare experience
