Safety - Engineer I Req #728 Milwaukee, WI, USA • Madison, WI, USA Apply Share Job Description Posted Wednesday, April 22, 2026 at 1:00 AM With offices in Illinois, Wisconsin, Indiana, and Ohio, Pepper Construction is a national general contracting and construction management firm that primarily serves the private sector. We are seeking a Safety Engineer who is energized by active jobsites, earns credibility with field teams, and is committed to building a strong, practical safety culture. This role partners closely with project teams and trade partners to promote safe work practices across commercial construction projects in southern Wisconsin. You'll play a visible, meaningful role in protecting our people, strengthening our safety culture, and supporting successful project delivery. What You'll Do Partner with project management and field leadership to develop and implement site-specific safety plans Conduct regular, documented jobsite safety inspections, audits, and hazard assessments Lead and support incident investigations with a focus on prevention, learning, and continuous improvement Deliver safety training, new-hire orientations, and toolbox talks Identify safety trends and proactively implement risk-reduction strategies Review subcontractor safety programs and participate in preconstruction and preparatory meetings Ensure compliance with OSHA requirements and company safety policies Track, analyze, and report safety metrics, including OSHA logs and required postings Serve as a trusted safety resource and liaison between field teams and leadership Represent Wisconsin on the Pepper Safety Council What You Bring Bachelor's degree in safety, Environmental Health, Safety Engineering, or a related field OR 5-7 years of commercial construction safety experience in lieu of a degree. OSHA 30-Hour Certification (required). Strong communication skills and the ability to influence at all levels without relying on authority. Practical, solutions-oriented approach with sound judgment and follow-through. Ability to work on active construction sites, including walking jobsites, climbing ladders, and navigating multi-level structures. Ability to lift up to 50 pounds, with or without reasonable accommodation. Proficiency with Microsoft Office and safety management software. Valid driver's license and willingness to travel throughout Wisconsin Pepper Construction is an Equal Employment Opportunity employer.
