Job Description

Site Safety and Health Officer needed for government construction project. The SSHO must meet the requirements of
EM 385-1-1
section 1 and ensure that the requirements of 29 CFR 1926.16 are met for the project. The SSHO shall be at the work site at all times to implement and administer the Contractor's safety program and government-accepted Accident Prevention Plan. The SSHO must conduct on-site Site Safety Orientations for all personnel who access the site as well as actively participate in Preparatory meetings and weekly subcontractor meetings. Ensure that all trades fill out pre-task forms prior to starting any activities and that all personnel sign in and out of the project daily. Conflicts, deviations, or modifications to the Safety Plan/APP shall be communicated with the project team (i.e. Superintendent, Project Manager, Senior Company Official) for mutual resolution, prior to doing so outside of the project team. The SSHO does not have authorization to engage in monetary agreements (subcontracts, change orders, work authorizations). All request for monetary agreements must be communicated to the Project Manager for consideration prior to work performed. Essential Functions / Major Responsibilities of the
SSHO:
Conduct daily safety and health inspections and maintain a written log which includes area/operation inspected, date of inspection, identified hazards, recommended corrective actions, estimated and actual dates of corrections. Attach safety inspection logs to the Contractors' daily quality control report. Conduct mishap investigations and complete required reports. Maintain the OSHA Form 300 and Daily Production reports for prime and sub-contractors. Maintain applicable safety reference material on the job site. Attend the pre-construction conference, pre-work meetings including preparatory inspection meeting, and periodic in-progress meetings. Implement and enforce accepted APPS and AHAs. Maintain a safety and health deficiency tracking system that monitors outstanding deficiencies until resolution. Post a list of unresolved safety and health deficiencies on the safety bulletin board. Ensure sub-contractor compliance with safety and health requirements. Maintain a list of hazardous chemicals on site and their safety data sheets (SDS's).
