Headquartered in Irvine, CA, Shur-Lok manufactures fastening systems with superior locking devices for critical requirements including engine module assembly, structural assembly, rotor blade attachment, and aircraft engine shaft and spindle applications. Operations at the Irvine location include CNC Machining, Punch Press, Thread Rolling, Laser Marking, Heat Treating, NDT, and EDM.Summary:
The EHS (Environmental, Health & Safety) Co-op is an intern position supporting safety and environmental programs within an aerospace manufacturing facility. This role provides hands-on experience in a highly regulated, production-focused environment, where the student will assist in promoting safe work practices, maintaining compliance, and supporting continuous improvement initiatives across manufacturing operations.Primary Duties & Responsibilities:
Under minimal supervision, provides clerical and administrative support to the EHS department: Ensure adherence to company EHS standards and applicable regulations Collect and analyze safety and environmental data for reporting purposes Identify potential hazards and recommend mitigation strategies Collaborate with cross-functional teams to improve workplace safety Maintain accurate and organized records of inspections, incidents, and training Promote a culture of safety and environmental responsibility across the organizationQualifications :
Current student pursuing a bachelor's or a related field. Demonstrated ability to analyze complex problems and develop innovative solutions. Strong interpersonal and teamwork skills with a results-driven mindset. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Self-starter possessing a high level of integrity. Strong communication skills Proficient in Microsoft Suite, such as Excel, Word, etc. Must be reliable, flexible, and punctual Highly adaptable to working in a fast-paced environment Must be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident. Availability to work 16+ hours per week during the internship period.Expectation:
First 3 months: Learn core EHS activities, key stakeholders, and internal processes (compliance, hazard ID, reporting). After 3 months: Lead 1-2 EHS process improvement projects (e.g., 6S, SDS digitization, process streamlining).Ongoing:
Support EHS projects from planning to completion, coordinating stakeholders and ensuring compliance.
