Engineering Student Assistant- Technician/Field Work - Hybrid (Los Angeles, CA)

The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) is seeking to hire a student assistant, in a learning capacity, under the close supervision of a Senior Transportation Engineer (Supervisor) and/or a Transportation Engineer, the student assistant, in a learning capacity, will organize Traffic Accident Surveillance and Analysis System (TASAS) requests, Installation Orders (IOs), and Safety records by digitizing and maintaining searchable databases, and support Safety operations through field data collection, drafting, information research, and other administrative tasks. The student assistant will gain practical exposure to transportation safety and operations, including TASAS requests, Traffic Investigation Reports (TIRs), and IOs, while developing skills in data management, field data collection, basic drafting, and familiarity with Caltrans standards, inter-unit coordination, and professional workplace practices.
