Join us at Inland Kenworth and go ALL IN on a career that has it all. This position will be located at our sales and service dealership in either Fontana or Montebello, California and will act as primary contact for safety for US operations.
THE OPPORTUNITY
The Health & Safety Advisor is responsible for administering the safety program throughout their territory and corporately, using their independent judgment and discretion to determine when revisions to policies and programs are necessary and making necessary revisions. Responsibilities also include examining potential unsafe working conditions and recommending necessary changes, performing safety inspections, preparing reports, support of safety committees, providing safety training when needed and conducting investigations of accidents and suggesting preventative solutions. The Safety Advisor will facilitate positive safety culture by building relationships at assigned branches and promoting and encouraging correct safety practices.
YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES
Review, revision or development of safety policies and procedures. Review of regulations to ensure compliance and identify any deficiencies. Participate in incident investigations including identification of meaningful corrective actions Contribute to the design and regular communication of safety bulletins, corrective action notices, safety incident communications and safety management systems updates Regular participation in toolbox meetings, joint health and safety committee meetings and branch inspections Site visits to assigned branches conducting inspections, identifying deficiencies, working with local level employees to create and implement solutions Facilitate annual audits and support branches in correcting identified deficiencies Use of Safety Management Software (SMS) for data collection. Analysis of information to make recommendations for improvements.
WHAT WE LOOK FOR OSH
Associate Degree or higher preferred CSP/SMS designation or preparation and coursework towards the designation is preferred but not required 4-8 years' related experience in health and safety Experience in site inspection, investigation, hazard assessment, working knowledge of regulation, policy development. Effective interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate with all levels within the organization Must be strong in both written and oral communication Strong organizational skills and the ability to work independently Able to deliver training in front of various groups of people Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs Working knowledge of regulations pertaining to worksites within assigned territory Knowledgeable in hazard assessment and control Experienced in inspections and investigations Ability to travel up to 25% of the time Valid Drivers' license required and passport with the ability to travel to corporate meetings as needed. SALARY The salary for this position is $85,000 - $102,000.
