Job Title:
Regional Sanitation Manager - Stone Fruit Operations Job Description The Regional Sanitation Manager is responsible for leading, auditing, and continuously improving sanitation programs across multiple stone fruit packing facilities. This role involves regular travel between sites to evaluate sanitation practices, ensure compliance with food safety and regulatory standards, assess labor utilization, and partner with site leadership to implement standardized, effective sanitation processes. The ideal candidate is a hands-on sanitation leader with strong audit, training, and process-improvement skills in fresh produce or food manufacturing environments. Responsibilities Conduct routine and scheduled sanitation audits at multiple stone fruit packing plants to assess adherence to internal sanitation programs, food safety standards, and regulatory requirements. Evaluate sanitation effectiveness across equipment, processing lines, common areas, and facility infrastructure. Identify gaps, risks, and non-conformances; document findings and provide clear corrective action recommendations. Support facilities in preparation for third-party, customer, and regulatory audits and inspections. Develop, implement, and refine sanitation processes, procedures, and best practices across all assigned facilities. Drive consistency by standardizing sanitation protocols, chemical usage, documentation, and verification methods. Partner with operations, quality, and maintenance teams to ensure sanitation programs align with production schedules and equipment requirements. Lead continuous improvement initiatives focused on food safety, efficiency, and sustainability. Assess sanitation team structure and staffing levels at each location to determine adequacy based on production volume, seasonality, and sanitation scope. Evaluate labor utilization, shift coverage, and task allocation to identify gaps or inefficiencies. Provide recommendations on appropriate headcount, scheduling models, and labor deployment to ensure sanitation standards are consistently met. Collaborate with site leadership and HR to support staffing plans, training needs, and workforce optimization. Train sanitation supervisors and teams on sanitation procedures, food safety expectations, chemical handling, and verification methods. Coach site leaders on sanitation leadership, accountability, and performance expectations. Review and verify sanitation records, logs, and documentation for accuracy and completeness. Track audit results, corrective actions, and improvements across all facilities. Prepare clear reports and summaries for leadership, highlighting risks, trends, and improvement opportunities. Essential Skills 5+ years of sanitation management or food safety experience in food manufacturing, produce packing, or fresh fruit operations. Strong knowledge of sanitation principles, GMPs, SSOPs, HACCP, and FSMA regulations. Proven experience conducting sanitation audits and implementing corrective actions across multiple sites. Ability to evaluate labor needs and staffing models in sanitation or production environments. Willingness to travel extensively between packing facilities (seasonal and peak-harvest travel required). Strong communication, leadership, and coaching skills. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience in fresh produce or stone fruit packing operations. Bilingual (English/Spanish). Experience supporting third-party audits (Primus, SQF, BRC, USDA, FDA). Lean, Six Sigma, or continuous improvement experience. Why Work Here? You will be working in cold, wet, and production environments and may occasionally need to work off-shift or weekends during peak season or audit preparation. Job Type & Location This is a Permanent position based out of Reedley, CA. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $70000.00 - $95000.00/yr.
