Job Description

Description SMG is a nationally recognized professional service organization that provides workplace safety consulting, training, staffing, program planning, and implementation. SMG is seeking a Contractor Rep in San Diego, California. This is a Saturday/Sunday ONLY role. The contractor rep acts as the primary safety liaison between the contractor's management and the workforce. They are responsible for ensuring that all safety regulations, hazard controls, and protective measures are followed, and for creating a culture of safety awareness Overview of Job Responsibilities Represent general contractors on the project Ensure compliance with OSHA, state, and industry safety regulations. Regularly inspect the site for hazards and unsafe practices, and take corrective action. Look into accidents or near-misses to determine causes and prevent recurrence. Educate workers on safe work practices, emergency procedures, and proper use of PPE. Communicate safety concerns, report violations, and recommend improvements. Keep accurate documentation of safety inspections, incidents, and training. Encourage open communication about safety issues and foster a proactive approach to hazard prevention. Requirements 3-5 years of construction and/or maintenance safety experience Strong communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills Previous contractor rep experience preferred Physical Demands of the job may include: Moving about long distances Ascending/descending stairs and ladders Remaining in a stationary position for a prolonged period Working in extreme weather (hot and cold environments) Being exposed to loud noises Wearing personal protective gear correctly Join an elite group of Safety Professionals!
