DESCRIPTION
As Lead EHS Technician, you'll be part of our EHS team at Thermo Fisher Scientific where you'll maintain workplace safety and environmental compliance. As Lead EHS Technician you'll collaborate closely working under the direction of the Site EHS Supervisor to provide technical and administrative assistance to EHS programs. Core responsibilities include the coordination ofRCRA/DOT
compliance, contractor safety, environmental inspections and sampling, facilitating job hazard analyses (JHAs), and helping close incident corrective actions. This position offers an opportunity to make a meaningful impact on workplace safety while supporting our mission of enabling our customers to make the world healthier, cleaner, and safer.REQUIREMENTS
- Bachelor's degree in Environmental, Health and Safety, Environmental Science, Safety, Industrial Hygiene, Engineering, or related field, OR equivalent experience in addition to;
- Minimum 2 years of relevant EHS experience with a focus in
RCRA/DOT
compliance.- Strong organizational, communication, and documentation skills with attention to detail.
- Experience conducting safety inspections and identifying workplace hazards
- Ability to drive administrative-level corrective actions to closure.
- Ability to work with contractors and vendors.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
RESPONSABILITIES
- Tracks and maintains waste documentation, including manifests, profiles, accumulation logs, and inspection logs.
- Supports
RCRA/DOT
compliance by verifying labeling, accumulation times, documentation completeness, and coordinating waste shipments.- Assists with EHS and waste related inspections by preparing checklists, documenting findings, and tracking follow-ups.
- Assists in coordinating and tracking lower-risk corrective actions, documenting completion, and communicating status.
- Support basic industrial hygiene activities (e.g. placing and monitoring dosimeters).
- Coordinates and participates in administrative duties of Contractor Safety Program such as training.
- Coordinates third-party employee training and contractor-led EHS activities, ensuring scheduling, logistics, and documentation are complete.
- Supports safety awareness initiatives, including employee engagement activities and campaigns.
- Communicates effectively to address communicate workplace hazards and escalate concerns. Maintains a visible presence to observe workplace conditions.
- Maintains EHS documentation systems with all other duties as assigned.
- Compensation and Benefits
- The hourly pay range estimated for this position based in Connecticut is $25.
