Job Description

HVAC and Air Quality Lead Technician Job Summary Join our dynamic team as an HVAC Technician, where you will play a vital role in restoring and maintaining healthy indoor air environments. This hands-on position involves cleaning HVAC air distribution systems, improving mechanical system hygiene, and assisting with projects that enhance indoor air quality and system performance. Included with HVAC technician work, the lead will work with HVAC ductwork and assist with indoor environmental quality services. Duties & Responsibilities - HVAC & Air Quality Lead Lead and oversee HVAC and indoor air quality (IAQ) projects from start to completion, ensuring all work is performed to company standards and industry best practices (NADCA, IICRC where applicable) Perform advanced HVAC service work including: Pumping down refrigerant systems in accordance with EPA guidelines Safe removal and reinstallation of air handlers and condensers System start-up, charging, and recommissioning to verify proper operation Diagnosing airflow, performance, and mechanical issues Execute full air handler cleaning and restoration including: Removal and deep cleaning of evaporator coils Removal, cleaning, and rebalancing of blower wheels Cleaning of drain pans, housings, and internal components Lead ductwork-related services with a clear understanding of: Supply and return duct configurations Ductboard, flex duct, and metal duct systems Proper cleaning, sealing, and encapsulation methods Install and modify HVAC support systems including: Setting air handlers on metal stands or coffin box return systems Fabricating and installing ducted return boxes Making field adjustments to return/supply transitions as needed Requirements Prior experience in HVAC service for at least 2 years Basic understanding of HVAC systems and air distribution components. Ability to safely operate hand tools, power tools, and mechanical cleaning equipment. Comfortable performing physical work, including lifting, climbing ladders, bending, and working in attic or crawlspace environments. Strong attention to detail with the ability to identify system conditions and cleanliness issues. Good communication skills for working effectively with team members and clients. Valid driver's license with a clean driving record; ability to travel between job sites is required. Willingness to learn new skills related to HVAC system hygiene, indoor air quality, and mechanical cleaning procedures.
