Chenega Government Mission Solutions, LLC, a Chenega Professional Services ' company, is looking for an Industrial Hygienist to provide industrial hygiene expertise in the development of criteria for recommended national occupational health and safety standards for specific hazards. Responsibilities Lead a team on inspections in complex, high hazard, industrial workplaces. Conducts industrial hygiene inspections to observe workplace practices and environmental conditions for health and safety hazards. Performs special studies and provides advisory services to less experienced employees. Identify and evaluate the potential toxicity of materials used or found in the workplace. Provides subject matter expertise on occupational health problems, including suggesting solutions to specific problems. Provide daily support to the agency's Respiratory Protection Program, including performing qualitative and quantitative fit tests. Provide training on industrial hygiene related topics to CDC employees. Assist in the development of entry level industrial hygienist. Demonstrate analytical competencies in the utilization of field portable instrumentation to effectively troubleshoot and resolve intermediate instrumentation errors using common troubleshooting techniques. Collaborate with
OHSO, OSSAM
IT, and Cority IT personnel to develop and implement industrial hygiene workflow for data management. Utilize Cority to manage industrial hygiene processes including equipment management, ergonomic assessments, and incident investigations. Perform and document in Cority ergonomic assessments as requested by CDC staff. Other duties as assigned Qualifications A bachelor's or graduate/higher level degree from an accredited institution in industrial hygiene, occupational health sciences, occupational and environmental health, toxicology, safety sciences, or related science; or A bachelor's degree in a branch of engineering, physical science, or life science that included 12 semester hours in chemistry, including organic chemistry, and 18 additional semester hours of courses in any combination of chemistry, physics, engineering, health physics, environmental health, biostatistics, biology, physiology, toxicology, epidemiology, or industrial hygiene. At least 5 years of experience practicing the field of industry including expertise in developing complex exposure assessments, identifying similar exposure groups (SEGs), developing exposure monitoring plans, and performing personal and area monitoring. Professional knowledge and skills applicable to the performance of industrial hygiene duties related to a wide range of industrial settings Knowledge of a full range of sampling techniques. Skill in identifying, evaluating and controlling a wide variety of occupational health hazards associated with the entire range of industrial work operations. Skill in modifying approaches or applications within a specialty area.
Preferred Qualifications:
Proficiency using Cority or other environmental health and safety (EHS) management systems. Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH) Familiarity with ergonomic assessment methodologies and tools (REBA, RULA, NIOSH lifting equation, etc.). Knowledge of federal occupational health standards (OSHA, NIOSH, ACGIH, EPA) and CDC-specific safety procedures. Demonstrated experience leading industrial hygiene programs or complex exposure assessment initiatives.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Knowledge of industrial processes and the health hazards associated with chemicals, biological agents, and physical stressors. Ability to lead inspections in complex, high‑hazard environments with minimal supervision. Ability to communicate complex industrial hygiene concepts to non‑technical audiences. Ability to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including IT, safety, occupational medicine, and agency leadership. Ability to prioritize multiple assignments and adjust work activities in a fast‑paced environment. Ability to maintain accuracy and attention to detail in data entry and technical documentation.
