Food safety Food Handler Certification Full Job Description We are seeking a Food Safety Specialist to maintain and build food safety standards for our sweet and savory food production. This role is multifaceted with key focuses on food safety program maintenance and development as well as product quality control and assurance. Our ideal candidate will be highly organized and detail oriented with a degree in food science or related field or previous experience in QC/QA, HACCP, and/or FSQA management. Responsibilities to include but not be limited to:
- overseeing all HACCP and Food Safety plan writing, maintenance, and utilization.
- approving incoming ingredients and materials and completing proper documentation of all deliveries.
- performing inspections on equipment and machinery to ensure Food Safety and production standards.
- monitoring accuracy of in-process production by confirming required recipe specifications, conducting visual and measurement tests, and communicating the required adjustments to the production supervisor.
- monitoring finished product quality through visual and measurement tests to confirm consistency of production, quality of taste, and accuracy of labels and packaging. Returning products for re-work if needed and completing documentation to confirm re-work.
- documenting daily food safety program records, logs, and compliances and updating inspection results with completed reports and logs.
- maintaining a safe work environment by following standards and procedures and complying with legal regulations - monitor and correct where necessary production staff's compliance with all standards.
- educating employees on food safety standards.
- assisting with other production needs as necessary.
- performing environmental sanitation verification testing on equipment and other areas required.
- Conduct quality audits to ensure compliance with FDA regulations and GMP standards
Qualifications:
B.S. degree in food science, food industry management, or related field required
- 1+ years previous experience in QA/QC preferred
- Previous experience in a leadership role
- Excellent computer skills, including MS Office
- Strong communication skills, including the ability to explain and teach methodologies
- Understanding of manufacturing methods and procedures
- Analytical thinking skills and meticulous attention to detail
- HACCP and Food Safety certifications preferred
- Bilingual - English and Spanish preferred, but not required
- Familiarity with FDA regulations and GMP standards
