Job Summary In this role, you will perform activities related to Health, Safety, Environmental (HSE) compliance to support the site, location or business needs. Receives technical and strategic oversight and direction from HSE supervisor or manager for the site, location or business but also has enough experience to work unsupervised to accomplish goals and objectives.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities Assist in developing health and safety systems, programs and procedures to prevent occupational injuries and illnesses, and enhance the overall site safety culture resulting in management engagement, employee involvement and the reduction in unsafe conditions and behaviors. Participate on incident investigations to guide on finding root causes and identifying aligned long-term corrective actions. Perform facility audits, surveys and inspections to identify environmental, safety and occupational hazards and weaknesses, to promote effective practices and ensure compliance with applicable regulations and develop recommendations that provide solutions, remedies or process improvement. Participates, review and approves risk assessments such as: to Job Safety Analysis (JSA), Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), ergonomic, Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA), new chemicals, and equipment assessments. Support all chemical and hazardous waste management, including transportation and documentation. Educate employees on how to prevent health problems using safety training programs and communications. Support on the monitoring of contractor activities to ensure compliance with West Safety Policies. Participate on projects for new equipment or improvement as safety representative.
