Safety Specialist

Job description: About the role: The Safety Specialist will perform onsite construction safety related duties on a project in South Bend, IN.

Responsibilities:

Serve as a contract representative for safety Duties as required by 1926 OSHA Standards for Construction Ensure compliance for the safety of site workers and general public Develop safety kick-off presentations and conduct on-site orientations and pre-shift meetings Conduct daily site safety inspections, safety assessments and safety audits Investigate incidents and complete associated paperwork Conduct risk assessments Make recommendations concerning the modification, improvement, or removal of any company equipment, facilities, or machinery that is hazardous to employee safety or health Compile daily, weekly, and monthly reports as requested by management or customer Maintain all safety related documentation

Education/Qualifications/Skills:

Fluent in English, written and verbal Required BCSP Board Certified or Bachelors degree in Safety Ability to teach and train others on safety programs (required) Ability to identify known potential exposures and recommending corrective action Ability to read and understand drawings and specifications Proficient in Microsoft Office, Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, and Excel Technological competency 7 years of construction safety experience 2-4 years of high voltage experience

What we offer: The current project will be for 7 months with potential to extend a longer duration. The schedule will vary, however, the expectation for the position is a minimum of 40 hours weekly as required by client. This is a 1099 contract with No Per Diem ; depending on experience, and ranges from $60-65 per hour. You must reside in the area and able to commute successfully for day-to-day operation. The schedule is M-F; however, flexibility is a must.
