Position Summary The Fire Alarm Apprentice supports licensed technicians in the inspection, service, and repair of fire alarm systems across commercial customer sites. This role is designed as an entry point into the fire alarm trade, providing hands-on training, exposure to NFPA codes, and a clear path toward technical development and licensing. This is a field-based, hands-on role requiring a strong work ethic, attention to detail, and a willingness to learn. The ideal candidate is mechanically inclined, dependable, and interested in building a long-term career in the fire protection industry. Key Responsibilities Field Service & Support Assist licensed technicians with inspection, testing, and repair of fire alarm systems Support scheduled service calls across commercial customer locations Learn proper use of tools, equipment, and diagnostic processes Training & Development Learn to identify code violations and non-conformance issues Develop understanding of NFPA codes and fire alarm system requirements Participate in on-the-job training and technical skill development Customer Interaction Maintain a professional appearance and conduct at all times Interact with customers in a respectful and service-oriented manner Support technicians in communicating findings and service recommendations Safety & Compliance Follow all company safety policies and procedures Maintain job site cleanliness and organization Obtain OSHA 10 certification if not already held Additional Responsibilities Perform other duties as assigned to support field operations and service delivery Qualifications High school diploma or GED required 0-2 years of mechanical, electrical, or construction-related experience preferred Strong customer service and communication skills Ability to work independently and as part of a team Valid driver's license required Willingness to work overtime, weekends, or holidays as needed OSHA 10 certification (or willingness to obtain) Compensation & Benefits Competitive hourly pay based on experience 401(k) with company match Medical, dental, and vision insurance Life and disability insurance Paid time off and holidays Ongoing training and professional development support Why Join FEI?
