Job Description

Safety Specialist Company Overview Spee Dee Delivery is a family owned and operated company that was started in 1978 by Donald and Sylvia Weeres. Our core business is in standard, next-day, ground delivery. The corporate headquarters and main sort facility is located in St. Cloud, MN. We currently employ over 1,800 employees company wide and over the years have expanded throughout the Midwest. Job Summary The Safety Specialist will provide administrative support to the health and safety department for the company. Hours and Wages Monday-Friday, 8:00AM-5:00PM Starting wage, $20.00-22.00 per hour, based on experience Duties and Responsibilities Champion a safety-first culture Accept inbound calls regarding incidents, gather pertinent information, and notify relevant department Record and follow up on incident reports, and obtain police reports for incident investigations Work with the HR Department collecting any previous incidents information Collect, analyze, and report data to Federal Government agencies to prove department is compliant with federal, state, and local laws, guidelines, and ordinances Ensure all needed permits and registrations are current Coordinate licensing and registration of company vehicles Respond to questions on hazardous materials to ensure proper shipping Daily inspections of loading area for packages missing hazmat paperwork and/or unsafe working conditions Audit and identify discrepancies in electronic driver logs Assist with the coordination of projects of the department, including those related to emergency preparedness, accident prevention, general safety, and risk management Review current safety training and recommend revisions, improvements, and updates Monitor and save telematic data and communicate findings to the Director of Safety Provide real-time guidance, mentoring and corrective coaching to drivers on safety behaviors, regulatory compliance and company policies Perform other related duties as assigned Skills and Abilities Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality Excellent verbal and written communication skills Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines Thorough understanding of applicable federal, state, local, and company policies, including Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) standards Proficient in DOT and FMCSA procedures and standards Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or related software Education and Experience At least 18 years of age High school diploma or equivalent required Experience in transportation preferred Associate's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Health and Safety, or related field preferred 1+ year of experience in health and safety preferred Physical Requirements Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times Benefits Health Insurance, Dental Insurance, Life Insurance, Paid Time Off (PTO), Employee Assistance Program, 401(k) Plan, Quarterly Bonuses, and more.
