The position supports environmental and safety programs and is an advocate for employee health and safety. Research, read and interpret applicable regulatory requirements by utilizing applicable state and federal regulatory resources and other tools to ensure compliance. Conducts training by utilizing in-house and external resources to educate new hires and other employees on workplace safety, health hazards, environmental programs, and methods of reducing and/or eliminating workplace hazards as directed by the EHS Manager. Maintains SDS Inventory by conducting chemical audits of department areas, working with team members to ensure new SDS are incorporated into the system, and updating SDS resources in the appropriate web-based software program. Supports safety initiative programs by maintaining accountability information for site safety initiative programs, updating roster, and communicating with teams to ensure employees know the status. Also, participates in the safety committee and other potential committee assignments as needed. Be prepared to lead safety committee meetings in the EHS Manager's absence. Develops and supports site safety and environmental programs by working closely with the EHS Manager to address various safety and environmental compliance requirements including but not limited to monitoring regulatory changes, program development, site inspections, and ongoing monitoring and reporting requirements. Safety Programs may include PPE, Fall Protection, Forklift, Lock-Out Tag-Out, Machine Guarding, Respiratory Protection, Hearing Conservation, and others. Environmental programs may consist of stormwater, air permitting, universal, non-hazardous, and hazardous waste. Support production team by taking a proactive approach to support production. Assist department supervisors with incident investigations, equipment relocation, delivery of training, conducting audits, following up on safety work orders, and providing labels as needed. Provide support to ensure worker safety by assisting the EHS Manager in maintaining worker safety at both the Metals and Rotational Molding facilities. Conduct periodic safety inspections and interface with employees as needed to ensure compliance with safety policies. Promote safety awareness through the posting of safety bulletins and signs. Assist in the implementation of safety policy as directed by the EHS Manager. Conducts audits and inspections by conducting periodic location inspections regarding housekeeping, equipment and machinery condition, environmental concerns, DOT records, and all other safety-related issues at locations to ensure compliance with all applicable regulations. Maintains documents by keeping accurate records of all required audits, inspections, and related compliance tracking requirements as needed. This may include but is not limited to air emissions tracking, wastewater, training, hazardous waste tracking, internal tracking. Supports facility improvements projects by Participating in facility improvement projects by researching requirements, suggesting options, and evaluating safety and environmental compliance issues. Maintains professional knowledge by attending educational seminars, conferences, workshops, and meetings when required. Obtaining certificates, licenses, and registrations as needed. Contributes to team effort by accomplishing all necessary tasks and elements of the specific job function and supporting all other company personnel and departments whenever necessary. Maintains compliance to the environmental standard by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations.Qualified applicants will have:
Must have an Associate degree (A.A.) or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school; or minimum two years related experience and or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Knowledge of and experience with quality managementISO 14001
2015 systems and practices is preferred. Must be computer and Microsoft office technology literate. Must be proficient with Microsoft Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Microsoft Teams. Experience with SharePoint and Microsoft Power Platform is preferred. Must be proficient in utilizing Internet Explorer for research. Minimum of two (2) years EHS experience in a manufacturing environment is preferred. Practices and a proven record of Professional Development is preferred. Must have good organizational skills and be able to prioritize responsibilities. Must communicate well with co-workers, senior staff members, vendors, and all internal customers. Must be able to work as an integral member in a team environment. Must be able to exhibit a coaching style of leadership to enhance working relationships with co-workers. A written/oral examination may be a requirement to assess the ability to meet job duty requirements. Bilingual (English and Spanish) language skills preferred.
